Can you spot the subtle signs? 👀🐾

A lip lick, a lowered head, a lifted paw or a small step away — our dogs can communicate discomfort in ways that are easy to miss.

In this video, Ryan points out some of these quieter signals and shows how adjusting our own body language can help a dog feel more comfortable.

It’s about looking at the whole dog and the situation, rather than reading one signal on its own. When we notice those little changes, we can slow down, give them space and build trust through our response 💙

There’s more to socialisation than playtime 🐾

Learning to read other dogs’ body language, respect their space and communicate appropriately are valuable skills that take practice.

In this video, Ryan talks about how guided social experiences can help dogs build confidence and feel more comfortable around other dogs - both here in the paddock and out in the world.

Every dog has a different starting point. With thoughtful introductions, appropriate groups and support from our team, we help them learn at a pace that suits them 💙

Want some guidance on your dog’s social skills? Get in touch - we’d love to help!

Every dog is different. So is every human 🐾

That’s why we recommend starting your training journey with an Initial Consultation.

It gives you dedicated one-on-one time with a trainer to talk through your dog’s history and behaviours, the challenges you’re experiencing, and what you’d love to work towards together.

Getting to know you both helps us understand your dog’s needs and recommend a plan that suits your lifestyle, too 💛

Whether the next step is private sessions, group training, Dog Club or a Board and Train program, that recommendation starts with understanding you and your dog.

You’ll also have time to ask questions and receive practical guidance to help you move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

Ready to take the first step? Send us a message or email [email protected] 😊

What are you rewarding without realising?

Rewards aren’t always treats. Your attention, putting on the lead, or opening the gate can all give your dog something they want.

If jumping, barking or pushing forward constantly gets them that outcome, they may learn to keep doing it.

Those little everyday moments are training opportunities. Slow down, notice what your dog is doing, and reward the behaviour you’d like to see more of.

Small changes in your timing can make a big different 💙

Friday rewind 🐾📸

A few little moments from our week at Good Dog Training - paddock adventures, downtime and some very enthusiastic camera inspections 😂💙

So many personalities, and plenty of moments that make us smile.

Small wins build momentum 🐾

In this video, Ryan shows how he keeps training flowing with simple repetitions, clear feedback and well-timed rewards, before giving the dog a break to sniff and explore.

When your dog is already focused and engaged, use that opportunity to practise what you’re working on. Then give them a chance to switch off before asking them to engage again 😊

Practise, reward, take a break, repeat.

Room to run, friends to play with, and plenty of happy tails 🐾

A little glimpse of paddock time today! We love watching the dogs enjoy themselves together - zoomies with friends, sniffing adventures, and a few close-ups for the camera 😂

What makes your dog want to repeat a behaviour? 🐾

Dogs learn from what happens after they act. When a choice leads to something they value, they’re more likely to make that choice again.

That’s the idea behind operant conditioning, which Ryan explores in this video.

Think about the everyday moments: your dog checks in with you, comes when called, or chooses to stay close. Recognising and rewarding those choices helps your dog understand what works 😊

The more clearly and consistently we communicate, the easier we make it for our dogs to learn.

Are your dog’s needs being met?

In this video, Ryan talks about how meeting our dogs’ basic needs supports their wellbeing and helps them feel ready to learn.

Appropriate exercise, opportunities to learn social cues and guided interactions with other dogs can all play a part in building confidence and calmness.

Every dog is different, so the type of exercise and social experiences we provide should suit the dog in front of us 💙

Understanding their needs gives us a stronger foundation to build on together.
