Our smallest collars are designed for petite and teacup dogs. Louis has never let being a Doberman interfere with the petite dog he is on the inside. When asked to model the collection, he interpreted the brief accordingly.

Some people have that rare gift of making the whole world feel loved. Warm, funny, generous, gloriously themselves—and seemingly incapable of meeting a stranger.

So, as a little tribute, Monkey put on her very best hair to say thank you for the songs, the laughter, the kindness and all that light.

The world feels a little less sparkly without you in it, Dolly. 🤍

Meet Harry—owner of Grey Lynn’s premiere pompadour.

With his beautifully coiffured cut and unmistakably French sense of style, Harry is always immaculately turned out—thanks to the devotion and daily grooming of his mum, Sue, who wants only the very best for him. But for all that polish, Harry certainly isn’t precious. He’s a friendly, enthusiastic little dog who loves to get amongst it.

Harry was one of our earliest models, and 18 months later he and Sue are still devoted to his bowls. They’re easy to clean, comfortable to eat from and, most importantly, keep those carefully groomed ears clean, dry and well out of the way.

The bowls are still looking rather good, too.

Louis Dobismith Beau Garcon isn't a Dobermann. He's a Dobermann-child.
Tipping the scales at a thoroughly respectable 40 kilograms (and yes, asking his weight is apparently considered quite rude), Louis has the imposing presence you'd expect from the breed. Until you meet him.

Within seconds he's presenting visitors with a treasured toy or his beloved Noo Noo Sucky blanket, leaning in for cuddles and quietly whimpering if the pats stop too soon. Personal space has always felt more like a suggestion than a rule. Louis firmly believes every lap is big enough if everyone commits to the idea.

Around home, Louis runs a tight operation. He's chief cuddle inspector and self-appointed supervisor of all kitchen activity. The opening of the fridge door can summon him from the furthest corner of the house, while the faintest hint of food preparation is enough to have him circling the kitchen like it's feeding time at the zoo.

Children on swings? Absolutely not. Skateboards? Equally suspicious. His feelings for Athena, the Insta-Dobermann star, and Aria from his pack walk are considerably warmer. Sadly, the admiration appears to be one-way.

During our first photo shoot we quickly learnt that treats were a rookie mistake. Give him a tennis ball and he transforms into the perfect gentleman. Give him food... well, bring a towel.

Underneath all that Dobermann, Louis is just one very large cuddle looking for somewhere to happen.

There was absolutely no plan for this morning other than throwing a ball into a pile of leaves... over and over again.
Judging by the amount of footage I got, we must have been there for the best part of an hour.
Every now and then we'd lose the ball completely, there'd be a frantic hunt through the leaves, and just when I thought it had disappeared for good, out she'd pop with a face full of ball.
At one point she vanished into a bush altogether. All I could see was the leaves moving. It was a very G-rated version of Predator.
A few four-legged friends wandered over to join in, which only added to the chaos.
This was at the off-leash area in Grey Lynn Park, one of our regular spots and a great place to let dogs be dogs.
Sometimes I wish I had four legs so I could have this much fun too.

Vinny's been wearing this collar for a year now.
It's been on daily walks, weekend adventures and everything in between.
It's easy to photograph a brand-new collar. They're all shiny and perfect.
What I really love is seeing how our collars look after they've been properly lived in. Every time someone sends me photos like these, I'm always a little relieved to see they look every bit as good as I'd hoped they would.
Designing something to last is one thing. Seeing it out in the real world a year later is something else entirely.

Some Saturday mornings are all sunshine. Others look like this.
Point Chevalier is one of our regular spots. Monkey and I have walked this beach more times than I could count. It's where we catch up with friends, meet plenty of new dogs, occasionally discover future Subwoofer models, and let the week disappear for an hour or two.
This morning, the fog was so thick you could barely see the next dog along the beach. The Harbour Bridge disappeared. The tide drifted in and out of the mist. Every now and then you'd hear dogs playing long before you could see them.
It felt like Auckland at its best.
Truth be told, I think Monkey probably walks me more than I walk her. If it weren't for this little girl insisting we head out every day, I'd happily stay glued to my desk for far too long. These walks are the best excuse to step away from work, clear my head and remember there's a whole world outside the office.
Point Chevalier will always be one of our favourites, but we're always keen to discover somewhere new. If you've got a favourite dog walk around Auckland that we should add to the list, let us know. We're always up for a change of scenery.

Our latest Lil Bestie, Edward has the unmistakable silhouette of a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and, according to just about everyone he meets, bears an uncanny resemblance to Basil Brush. Boom boom.
Born in Christchurch but now firmly settled in Auckland, Edward treats every outing as a meet-and-greet. His dads, the team at daycare, the staff at the pet shop and half the local café scene are all firmly in his fan club. The feeling, naturally, is mutual.
At home, however, there's another side to Edward. The resting bitch face is legendary, the side eye is razor sharp, and despite possessing ears the size of satellite dishes, they appear to be ornamental.
Rain? Absolutely not. Bin day? Offensive. The vacuum cleaner, blender and SodaStream? Strangely fascinating.
His preferred pace through life is somewhere between enthusiastic and wildly overcommitted. He travels with his head out the car window, side-steps like a tiny rugby player when chased, greets everyone with a gift if he can find one, and was, without question, the most enthusiastic participant at our photo shoot. The endless rivers of excited corgi drool made sure of that.
Edward also has a penchant for fancy dress. We first spotted him at Woof dressed head-to-paw as a tiny policeman, complete with hat and handcuffs, alongside his equally committed dads. Frankly, it suited him. After all, someone has to keep the local cafés in line.
