Had an unpleasant experience yesterday with a dog owner who chose to ignore my warnings that the dog I was training with her owners was reactive to other dogs. Instead her 5mth old pup ran right up & kept coming back with our dog (under full control & on lead) getting more aggitated. No recall, no control, no lead in hand and it was apparently our fault for training in a park (even though we were off the beaten path, not directly in anyone's way, & we'd been there for 1hr with no other problems) 🤯 So I just wanted this message to be a friendly reminder.... especially if you see another dog is on lead please be respectful & DO NOT allow your dog to run up to them (rant over)😤

Happy Easter everyone... or as I like to call it (being a self-confessed chocoholic) Happy Chocolate Day 🍫🐰😋 For those of you lucky enough to discover the Easter Bunny visited with some yummy treats, just remember to eat them all as quickly as you can so there's no chance your dog can steal any & get sick 🐶

And if you're getting comments about how much chocolate you're eating just remind them that you're only doing it to ensure your dogs safety ahead of your own 🤭 Of course if you don't have a dog that argument might not be as effective 🤣🤣

Good News😁
I'm now accepting new bookings to start training after Easter... yay!!

The Not-So-Good News😐
Currently I'm not physically able to do more than 1 client a day (& not every day either) so availability will be restricted until my ankle can tolerate more

But it's a start and after 9.5 months I'll take anything🫣

So if you're wanting to get your beloved pooch (and yourselves) trained, get in touch and lets see if my training will suit. Just be aware there may be a slight delay in starting depending on availability & my rehab committments. In short - the sooner you book, the sooner training can begin 🐶🐾
And who wouldn't love a dog as wonderfully obedient, well-behaved & happy as my Oreo was (miss you xx 🌈😢)

Yesterday was a milestone day - 1st training session conducted after 8 months post injury 🐶 I’m not physically ready to go back to full time yet (ankle didn’t behave as well as I had hoped🙄) so wait times will be extended more than usual due to restricted hours, but it’s a start.

Plan from here is to begin scheduling sessions with existing clients who have been very patiently waiting to finish (or start) their training sessions, followed by people who are on my call-back list. If anyone wants to be added to my call-back list please complete the enquiry form on my website (https://www.k9techniques.com/contact-us/) and I’ll be in touch when able to make new bookings – please note this is likely to still be a few months away from a possible start time.

In the meantime thanks to everyone who has given me support & well-wishes over these last 8 months – it’s been very much appreciated 🙏 There’s now a flash of light at the end of a very long tunnel.... but the journey is not quite over yet 👣

Well 2025 was certainly a year of 2 halves for me, with the last 6 months being very challenging (& frustrating) battling with a broken ankle & having to temporarily close. But 2026 is just around the corner & I hope to be back early next year 🤞🐕 In the meantime I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported me this year - by having training sessions, following me on FB & liking our posts or sending me get well soon messages - and an extra "Thank You" to everyone who is patiently waiting to re-start (or start) your training when I'm fully back on my feet again (literally 🤭) - your support is gratefully appreciated 🙏
And finally, from me & my family to you & your family I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Safe & Happy New Year. See you in 2026 😊🐾

Heading to physio today I saw signs advertising fireworks for sale🙄 which means it's that stressful & scary time for many animals and their owners😶‍🌫️ Below tips may help but if anyone is letting off fireworks please be considerate to your neighbours, animals & surrounding areas. Let neighbours know in advance so they can make arrangements for their beloved animals (especially if setting them off randomly on any other night rather than just the 5th).
Be kind & thoughtful 🫶

** Recovery Update**
Nearly 5 months in from breaking ankle & majority of broken bones are healing well. An issue has been my fibula which is taking its time & only just showing signs of union (thankfully CT Scan shows enough to prevent further surgery which was a possibility a couple of weeks ago😳). Movement & flexibility in the ankle is limited but getting better - more rehab & healing needed before I get sign off to return to some form of training so unfortunately K9 Techniques has to remain closed for now.... but at least I've got some pretty impressive metal work to show for it (if that can be considered a bonus) 🫣

Just wanted to give an update on my recovery. As of Mon 25 Aug I have finally got clearance to start putting some weight through my ankle. Have to remain in moon boot for another 6 weeks but if my next x-ray is good I may be able to say good bye to it. In the meantime its lots of physio & trying to get movement again. Haven't got any idea when I can be back training yet but we're a step closer (no pun intended) 😉🩼
