Mental health matters. For our team. For our clients.

Veterinary care can come with emotional and challenging moments. Our teams support pets and their families through life’s highs and lows, and we know it can be an emotional experience for clients too.

This World Mental Health Day, we’re recognising the importance of looking after the people behind the pets.

It’s okay to have difficult days, ask for support and take a moment to look after yourself. 🐾

🐾 It's Vet Nurse Awareness Week! 💕

This week we’re celebrating the nurses behind the scenes who keep The Strand Vet running.

Vet nursing is so much more than holding a pet while they see the vet. Our nurses are highly trained, knowledgeable and skilled, and they’re involved in almost every part of your pet’s care.

They run anaesthetics, monitor patients under surgery, take and run blood samples, place IV catheters, administer medications, care for hospitalised patients, help with diagnostics, monitor recovery and, of course, provide plenty of cuddles and reassurance when pets are feeling stressed.

They’re also advocates for your pets. They notice the little things, understand body language, speak up when something doesn’t seem right and work hard to make sure each patient is comfortable and cared for as an individual.

And while the vet might be the person you come in to see, your vet nurse is often the person beside your pet throughout their entire visit.

But it doesn’t stop with the patients. Our nurses look after our vets, support and reassure our clients, answer questions, explain what’s happening, keep everyone on track and somehow manage to do about 47 things at once. 😂

You really couldn’t run a veterinary clinic without vet nurses. They keep the ship afloat, and so much of what happens behind the scenes simply wouldn’t happen without them.

So this week, we’re giving our nurses the recognition they deserve. They work incredibly hard, carry a huge amount of knowledge and responsibility, and make such a difference to our patients, our clients and our whole team.

We’re pretty damn lucky to have this bunch. 🐾💕

Luna popped in for a visit after completing her diet trial, and we’re so happy to hear she’s been doing SO much better thanks to Dr Justine! 🥰🐱

Gut health plays an important role in your pet’s overall health and wellbeing, so finding the right diet can make a big difference to how they feel. 💕

Fufu was SO excited to see Dr Vanessa that she was quite literally vibrating in reception 😂💗

We love seeing happy faces (and very wiggly bodies!) walk through our doors. 🥰

We’re passionate about making vet visits as fear-free and positive as possible, and honestly, you can see the difference it makes. When your pet is this excited to visit the vet, we know we're doing something right! 🐾✨
