Minnie has just turned 19 years old 💗

She is a wonderful example of the difference dedicated ongoing care can make in our senior pets’ lives. Her owners bring her in for monthly check-ups, where we help manage her arthritis, weight, blood pressure, and overall comfort—supporting her every step of the way to maintain the best possible quality of life.

There are so many ways we can help our older companions stay comfortable and happy well into their golden years, and Minnie is a beautiful reminder of that.

Today we’re celebrating a very special milestone — Jordy’s 5 year anniversary at The Strand Vet 🖤

As our Hospital Manager, Jordy is such an important part of our team and the care we provide every day. Her knowledge and skill in anaesthesia, emergency medicine, hospital care and critical nursing are truly exceptional. Whether it’s a complex anaesthetic plan, troubleshooting a difficult GA, or managing a critical patient, Jordy brings an incredible level of experience, calm and clinical expertise to every case she’s involved in. When things get tough, Jordy is always someone you want by your side.

But what makes Jordy truly special is not just her knowledge — it’s who she is as a person. She is supportive, reliable, down to earth, and always willing to help others learn and grow. She shares her knowledge so generously and is someone we all trust and look up to. She makes the hard days easier and the good days even better.

We are so unbelievably lucky to have Jordy as part of The Strand Vet family — not only as an amazing nurse and leader, but as a teammate and friend who means so much to all of us.

Veterinary medicine isn’t always predictable.

Behind a closed consult door might be a family hearing difficult news.

In theatre, there might be a patient fighting a little harder than expected.

On a treatment table might be a pet who simply needs more comfort before we can continue.

We don’t rush those moments. We can’t.

If we’re running behind, it’s never because we don’t value your time. It’s because a pet needs us, and we give everything we can, always!

One thing that’s really important to us at The Strand Vet is looking after not only our patients and clients — but also each other 💛

At the end of every morning meeting, we take time as a team to do a small wellness activity together. It’s something we do every single day without fail, and it has become such a special part of our clinic culture. Taking even a short moment to reset, connect, and care for ourselves helps us start the day with a more positive mindset — because when we look after ourselves, we’re better able to look after our clients and their beloved pets too 🐾

No two days are ever the same! Sometimes we play games, meditate, do yoga, blow bubbles outside, go for a walk, or get creative with arts and crafts. This time, we spent our wellness activity making origami creations together ✨

Veterinary medicine can be incredibly rewarding, but also emotionally demanding, so these little moments of connection and mindfulness mean a lot to our team — and honestly, we all love it.

Today we’re celebrating an incredible milestone — 5 years with our wonderful vet, Diana 🐾

Diana is one of the kindest, warmest people you could ever hope to meet. She brings so much compassion, dedication, and positivity to our team, and we are truly so lucky to have her as part of The Strand Vet family.

Anyone who knows Diana knows just how passionate she is about cats — so much so that she has lovingly earned the nickname of our “crazy cat lady” amongst the team 🐱💛 Her love for feline medicine goes far beyond passion alone; Diana has completed additional examinations through the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, earning further qualifications in feline medicine. Her knowledge, skill, and commitment to providing exceptional care for our feline patients is something we admire immensely.

Beyond her expertise, Diana has a way of making everyone around her feel comfortable and cared for. She is thoughtful, gentle, and genuinely one of those people who feels like sunshine to be around.

Thank you, Diana, for the last 5 years of dedication, kindness, and unwavering care for both our patients and our team. We appreciate you more than words can say, and we can’t wait to celebrate many more years with you 💕
