Can you bath a cat? 🤔
YUS! Of course you can. Watch Cheddar 🧀 being bathed with the gentle HERDD 3-in-1 shampoo bar, suited to the delicate skin of cats 🐈🧼
Intrigued? Here are our TOP TIPs for bathing a cat:
🐱 Use a suitable product, gentle & nourishing for delicate cat skin {see why on our blog post at HERDD.nz on cats}
🐱 Start young—if you have a kitten under 4 months old, it’s the ideal time to start getting them used to water
🐱 For cats anxious around water, use a damp warm face-cloth to wipe the entire body. Do this twice a week at least, getting them used to moisture
🐱 We find the shower easiest if you have a ‘wand’, meaning you can sprinkle with water then set the wand aside while applying product & massaging the body {like in this reel}
🐱 For a tub bath, use a large laundry sink
🐱 Water temperature is critical—cats body temps are ~1 degree higher than ours, so water should be 38-39 degrees
🐱 Thoroughly rinse the coat with warm water
🐱 Have a dry, big towel close by, & when finished, squeeze excess water off the cat’s body, down the legs & tail, before moving them into the middle of the towel
🐱 Wrap them in the towel & rub to dry. If they tolerate a hair dryer, use that to finish {for extra luxury, put the towel in the dryer for 5 mins before using it, your kitty will love the coziness}
🐱 Choose a warm, sunny day to bath, so your cat can sit in a warm spot once you’ve dried them
🐱 It’s normal for a cat to “bathe” themselves following a bath—our products are natural & lick safe, just in case you miss a little during rinsing
