🐾💙 HAPPY VET NURSE APPRECIATION DAY! 💙🐾

There’s a running joke in veterinary practice that vets expect their nurses to do EVERYTHING… preferably all at once, and ideally five minutes ago! 😂

And somehow… they just make it happen! ✨

Our vet nurses are the ultimate multitaskers, problem-solvers, mind-readers, chaos-coordinators and miracle workers!

🐾 They care for our patients with endless love, compassion and dedication.

❤️ They look after us vets (sometimes we need almost as much looking after as our patients!).

☕ They somehow know exactly when we desperately need a coffee.

🐶 They build wonderful relationships with our clients and make their pets feel safe and loved.

🩺 They keep our equipment, facilities and treatment areas running smoothly.

⏰ They keep us on time (or at least try their absolute best! 😅).

💉 They anticipate what we need before we’ve even realised we need it.

🤹‍♀️ And they somehow manage to juggle seventeen different tasks while answering a question, comforting a patient and reminding a vet what they were supposed to be doing!

So much of what our nurses do happens behind the scenes, often without the recognition it deserves. But please know that it NEVER goes unnoticed.

The truth is, we simply couldn’t do what we do without you. You are the heart of our practice, and the exceptional care we strive to provide at True Vets wouldn’t be possible without your hard work, skills, compassion and dedication.

For everything you do, everything you remember, everything you organise, and everything you somehow manage to pull off, even on the craziest of days. We appreciate you more than you know!

🐾 Happy Dog Appreciation Day! 🐾

At True Vets Ormiston, we believe pets aren’t just pets — they’re part of the family. ❤️🐶

They share our homes, our adventures and our everyday lives. They’re our companions, our comfort, our exercise buddies and, quite often, the ones who know us best. Caring for them means recognising just how important they are to the families who love them.

Today, we also want to give a special shout-out to the incredible working dogs who dedicate their lives to helping people and protecting our communities. 🐕‍🦺💙

We’re very proud of our close relationship with the MPI Detector Dog Programme and the Guide Dogs of Blind Low Vision NZ (BLVNZ). It’s a privilege for our team to play a part in caring for these remarkable dogs, whose health and wellbeing are so important to the work they do.

Whether they’re a much-loved family companion, a working dog with an important job, or both — today we celebrate them all. 🐾

Today we’re celebrating International Guide Dog Day 🐾💛

At True Vets Ormiston, we’re incredibly proud to be part of the New Zealand Blind Low Vision breeding programme — helping raise the next generation of amazing guide dogs who go on to change lives every single day.

These dogs are more than companions — they’re partners, navigators, and a source of independence and confidence for their handlers. Being involved in their journey right from the beginning is something truly special to our team.

Here’s to the future guide dogs in our care, and to the incredible work of Blind Low Vision NZ 👏

BLVNZ are running a fundraiser today and your support will go a long way!
Every dollar donated today will be matched by a group of generous donors to help us fetch the training and gear needed to turn these clever pups into life-changing guide dogs.

We couldn’t let World Veterinarians Day pass without celebrating our incredible team 💚🐾🩵

25 April was World Veterinarian Day, so we took a moment today to recognise the dedication, compassion, and hard work our vets bring every single day. A special shoutout to Dr Adri, who went above and beyond decorating this amazing veterinary-themed cake for the team 🩺

From early mornings to late nights, our vets are always there for your pets — and we’re so grateful to have such a passionate group here at True Vets Ormiston.

Here’s to the people who care for those who can’t tell us what’s wrong 🩵

Woah! Those teeth!
So often patients pop in for “regular” consults and then we discover layers of tartar, plaque and very often gum disease.
Unfortunately dental disease is often brushed off (if only it were that easy) and then forgotten.
Dental disease has a HUGE effect on general health, not to mention it’s a constant source of discomfort or even pain!
“Low grade” dental disease is still disease. It also escalates, making it important to keep under control before you’re looking at extractions. Extra ouch!

This March we’re offering our clients an opportunity to get their pet’s teeth sorted at a lower rate.

Cheerio Fur-Osty!

We do pet exports here at True Vets Ormiston so luckily for our little elf, we’ve got good connections to get him safely home to the North Pole in time for Christmas. 🎄

We love what he’s done with his cabin - and by the looks of it he’s already in holiday mode. 😎

Fur-Osty has been Dr Nicole’s little helper and on kitten-duty lately 🐾💛

This tiny stray came to us scared, scruffy, and in need of a whole lot of love — and Fur-Osty has poured his heart into every feed, cuddle, and check-in.

Now look at him 😭✨ thriving, purring, and officially home… because he got adopted by Ben!
