🎆🐾 FIREWORK SEASON IS HERE! 🐾🎆

While fireworks can be exciting for us, they can be a very stressful and frightening time for our furry friends. ❤️🐶🐱

The good news is there are lots of things you can do to help your pets feel safer and more comfortable!
Here are some ways to help ease the stress:

🐾 Adaptil – Helps support dogs during stressful situations.

🐾 Feliway – Helps cats feel safer and more secure in their environment.

🐾 Dog anxiety shirts – Gentle, snug-fitting shirts may help some dogs feel more settled.

🐾 Create a safe den – Set up a quiet, cosy space where your pet can hide away from the noise. Add their favourite blankets, bedding and toys.

🐾 Keep them indoors and secure – Close windows and curtains, turn on the TV or some calming music, and make sure doors, gates and fences are secure.

🐾 Stay calm and offer comfort – Let your pet seek reassurance from you and give them the space and comfort they need. ❤️

Every pet is different, so finding what works best for your furry family member is key!

⭐️PATIENT OF THE WEEK: LOKI ⭐️

Loki came in for X-rays this week and was the best boy ever 🤍

He was such a happy, sweet boy throughout his visit and made everything look easy with his waggy tail and gorgeous personality 🐶

We absolutely loved having you in, Loki!

Meet Olive! 🐱🤍

Olive first came into our clinics as a tiny little kitten with a very, very big belly- so big that she almost looked like she was expecting kittens.

Unfortunately, her big belly was due to fluid build up, and we became suspicious that Olive may have FIP (Feline infectious peritonitis). Further diagnostic testing confirmed our suspicions.

Feline infectious peritonitis is a serious disease caused by a mutation of feline coronavirus within the cats body. It can affect cats if any age but is more commonly seen in younger cats.

Not too long ago, an FIP diagnosis carried a very poor prognosis as there was no readily available treatment. Thankfully, things have changed, and we now have effective treatment options available.
We started Olive on a liquid formulation of remdesivir straight away and she has been an absolute superstar throughout her treatment.

Olive loves her medications so much she now waits for it every morning 🙂

Olive is currently at week 8 of her treatment and is doing amazing ! Her blood work is looking fantastic, with everything back in normal range.
She has one more month to go of her treatment and then will be all recovered 🥳
So proud of our little fighter ! 🤍

🌟 PATIENT OF THE WEEK: MAGGIE! 🌟

One of everyones favourite little visitor is adorable Maggie, a tiny Poodle with a personality bigger than she is! 🐶💕

Maggie is quite possibly one of the most adorable little faces you’ll ever meet, and we can safely say everyone loves when Maggie comes to visit! 🥰

Meet Tess 🤍
She came in for a dental procedure to keep her teeth healthy and happy 🦷

The pictures of these teeth look like healthy incisors but if you look really closely you can see slight discolouration of 2 maxillary ( upper) incisors and one mandibular (lower)incisor. We took X-rays of these teeth and found that the 3 affected teeth had a widening of the pulp ( sensitive part of the tooth) which indicated disease of these teeth. This is the reason why we recommend X-rays of teeth during dentals so that we can give your pets the best care and maintain good dental health .

For August and September, all dental procedures are $200 off 🦷

Meet Riley 🤍

Riley, one of our lovely staff members' pets, came in for her senior health check💜 At 16 years young, she's doing an amazing job, but as a senior with kidney disease, regular monitoring is so important.

To help make her visit as stress-free as possible, she had some medications beforehand to help her relax. She was an overall great patient and took everything well.

During her visit we did:

🩺 Blood testing
💕 Blood pressure
🦴 Arthritis assessment
🧪 Urinalysis
🐾 Nail trim

Riley is currently doing well on her pain relief medication and a prescription renal food diet, which are helping to keep her comfortable and support her kidney health.

To stay on top of any changes, Riley will be having senior check-ups every 6 months. These regular visits allow us to monitor her condition closely and make any adjustments early if needed, helping her enjoy the best quality of life possible 💜
