This may look boring, but boring was part of our goal! Some parts of vet care may seem easy to some, but often a check with a stethoscope can be hard. A new person leaning in to their space bubble and calmly standing still waiting.
For Lili, this has been quite scary and she hasn't let a vet do this for years without great worries. Together we broke down the steps and build trust with a new person doing this while she gave the start and stop cues, not only tolerating it, but consenting to it!

Congratulations puppy graduates! A clever group of puppies keen to learn it all!

My dog Juno competed in our first ever SSANZ Scentwork trial today. I was so proud she qualified, finding all her hides as it was a tricky venue too. She does her Scentwork training through CANINE.NZ Dog Training which has been a great l, supportive team to start out with. Looking forward to more novice trials with her!

The final level for our cooperative care certification is nearly there! It is important for our dogs to learn to tolerate different parts of their veterinary care to help them be less stressed in case of injury.

Lili is doing a great job to use her chin rest to start her veterinary care. Learning in the safe space of home means she can learn without added stress before changing her environment to the vet!

Pyro has been learning to accept paw handling and nail care. It can be hard watching their nails growing while you train! Pyro is loving this version of nail care where he learns to file his own nails down using a scratch board. dogtraining
