🐾 An Exciting Evening with Waipaparoa Rangers! 🐾
The Waipaparoa Rangers are part of GirlGuiding New Zealand, providing girls and young women with opportunities to build confidence, develop practical skills, make new friends, take on challenges, and discover new interests in a supportive and encouraging environment. 💚
As part of their learning and career exploration, the Rangers recently enjoyed a fantastic visit to Pet Doctors Howick for an after-work veterinary clinic tour. 🐶🐱🩺
The team had the opportunity to see behind the scenes of a veterinary clinic, learn about the different roles within a veterinary practice from our lovely speaker Dr Kirsty Holtzhausen, and discover what it’s really like to work as a veterinarian or veterinary nurse.
During the visit, we talked about:
👩⚕️ What it takes to become a vet
🐾 How to become a veterinary nurse
📚 The study and training involved
🏥 What a typical day in a veterinary clinic can look like
❤️ The rewards — and challenges — of working with animals
🔎 The many different career opportunities within veterinary medicine
It was wonderful to see the Rangers asking questions, showing curiosity, and thinking about how their interests could potentially lead to future careers working with animals. 🌟
A huge thank you to 🎉Ms Cheryl Snowden for bringing the Waipaparoa Rangers, for them to learn sharing some knowledge, and giving them such a valuable insight into the world of veterinary care.
Who knows — perhaps we met some future vets and veterinary nurses! 🐕🐈⬛💚
