Since 2020, we have seen a significant increase in unwanted litters. The numbers have grown so much that rescues and other agencies are now over capacity, with simply not enough space or resources to help these pups. Sadly, this means their outcomes are often bleak.

The team at The Dog Rescue Project came together and decided we needed to take action — and Desex in the City was born.

Desexing is the first step in preventing unwanted litters, keeping dogs out of pounds and rescues, and helping dogs live longer, healthier lives.

This new outreach desexing programme has limited spaces available, and all applications are assessed on a case-by-case, needs basis.

If your application is approved, you will receive a desexing voucher (and a microchip voucher if required) for the SPCA partner vet closest to you. From there, you will book directly with the vet to arrange your dog’s surgery.
