Springston Trophy 2026! 🏆

What an incredible 5 days it has been!
We were thrilled to field a full team of six fantastic riders:
• Seniors (105cm): Hannah Thickett & Dixie, Sami Mead & Fazioli
• Intermediates (95cm): Mia Brook & Dingmac Fable, Lucy Bennett & Village Gossip Girl
• Juniors (80cm): Amelia Brockhurst & Reid n Dale Special Edition, Darcy Sinton & Goldridge Wi******er

We also had Heidi Quigley & CC Chocolate Eclair ride as a Junior in a Two-Age Group Composite Team alongside riders from Methven, Northern Southland, Pleasant Point, and Tinwald. Everyone rode beautifully, and our club could not be prouder! 🐴✨

As co-hosts of the event alongside Mill Creek, Methven, and Rakaia Pony Clubs, our committee and parents had an incredibly busy week setting up and running everything. A massive thank you to all the families who helped with catering, setup, pack-down, and volunteering during the event. It truly takes a village! 🙌

The Ashburton A&P Showgrounds looked absolutely picture-perfect for Friday’s Dressage and Sunday’s Show Jumping. Meanwhile, the refurbished Rakaia Pony Club cross-country course looked fantastic and will be a phenomenal asset for our local riders right on our doorstep! 🌲🏇

A huge thank you to our incredible coaches and managers—Seija Parkkali-Glew (Ontop Equestrian), Susie Amos, and Team Manager Phillippa Thickett. The endless hours you dedicated to training our riders beforehand made all the difference, and this success wouldn't have been possible without you. ⏱️❤️

The competition was fierce! Tinwald placed 2nd in the Dressage (by a tiny 0.4 penalties!) and finished 4th Overall, with less than 4 penalties separating 1st and 4th place.

Above all, we are most proud of the sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication, and immaculate presentation our riders showed all weekend. Way to go, team! 🎉🐴

Springston Trophy 2026

We're delighted to announce that Tinwald Pony Club will be sending a full team of six riders, plus one rider joining a Composite Team, to Springston Trophy 2026, taking place 2–4 October in Ashburton (Dressage and Show Jumping) and the Rakaia Cross Country course.

Our team is proudly managed and coached by Seija Parkkali-Glew, Susie Amos, and Phillippa Thickett.

Leading up to the event, our riders have had the privilege of training under Seija Parkkali-Glew of On Top Equestrian (www.ontopequestrian.co.nz) . As a current top-level dressage rider & coach, Seija brings a wealth of experience to the team, having competed in the Springston Trophy 10 times and coached it in previous years. We are incredibly grateful for the countless hours she has dedicated to training our kids and giving back to grassroots equestrianism. The growth in confidence and skill our riders have shown during training has been truly phenomenal.

We wish all of our riders and their horses the very best of luck—we can't wait to follow your journey and cheer you on throughout the weekend!
The Ashburton Pony Clubs—Mill Creek, Methven, Rakaia and Tinwald—have been working together to bring this fantastic event to life.
If your child isn't riding, we'd love for them to be part of the action by helping out over the three days. Volunteers are an important part of making Springston Trophy a success, so please get in touch if your child is keen to lend a hand.
