It’s so good to see the sunshine after all the rain we had the other night, we already have quite a lot of mud up here due to being clay. It’s been a week of feeding out hay, getting stuck in the mud, planting seeds watching new chicks hatch and daffodils pop up. No lambs this spring for us Davey seems to be ok with his new room mate Charlie the pony.

Feeding time in the zoo, it was freezing here today! Thankfully my plants were ok but I covered them tonight as not sure how many frost they will handle straight up. The sheep had their nuts then onto the hay to warm their belly’s for the night. Rita forgot her table manners again

The sun was shining and I was pleased to get these plants in the ground they were so root bound and I didn’t want to just repot, so 86 plants planted out in our temporary farm garden with the help of the kids and cats and we just finished up as the sun is setting and it’s freezing! Im hoping the straw keeps them warm enough and they all survive. These were all grown from seed and half were seed saved from our brassica last year. Hopefully lots of veges on the plate really soon 🤞

We are putting the tunnel house to the test this winter in its new location. It was scary dragging it with the digger through 5 paddocks hoping for the best that it wouldn’t fall apart. So far so good, our seeds are still sprouting despite that hard frost and plants are growing way to fast and need to either be re potted or planted out. If anyone local is wanting to buy lettuce plants send me a message my 12 year old grew these himself from seed saved from our fancy lettuce and they are nearly ready to eat now, who doesn’t love salad in winter 😂

If only I could grow carrots as good as I can grow potatoes 😝 Can you believe I have never bought a seed potato!? These are just from random supermarket potatoes that have started to sprout in my cupboard, so we chucked in the ground and covered with old hay! There are some huge ones in here, we decided it was a job for the digger! This should keep us going for another few months.

Friday fun at the funny farm I lost the battle keeping the sheep out of the hay 😖 4 times I went in pulled sheep out re put up the fence, in the end I gave up and let them in for the day. If we let them have it free for all they will destroy it in a couple of days climbing on it & weeing on it, so it’s fenced securely for the night again now. Davey was abit lame tonight, it’s like he knows we are helping him and stands really well, we are on clay so have quite abit of mud which is not ideal for us or his feet! Hopefully we get more sunshine this weekend and dries out. The girls were trying to watch on but through the hay in their eye lashes so they got eye trims to. 🥰 That’s the animals chores done for today. Happy Friday 🍻

This picture sums up our funny farm as my friend calls it 😂 featuring all the main characters! I have been thinking about re branding this page as our life here is more than the cute sheep 🐑 so you may see abit more of a mix ( gardens, kids, life and animals going forward) I love to have memories pop up and to remind me how far we have come. It was only 5 years ago that we bought our bare triangle shaped block and have since developed it into 7 lifestyle size paddocks with gravity feed troughs, cattle yards that never get used ( they are located in a stupid place) a cottage / tiny home we use to live in but now it is forsale as it sits empty apart from the occasional times we have woofers and now our latest accomplishment the main house ( which was school classrooms we converted) if you know us, you know we love to re use and recycle as much as possible! Every building on our land was repurposed 🙂 I still plan to breed Valais but we won’t be having lambs probably until autumn again as I really enjoyed having lambs at that time of year ( unless we have a accident and Davey finds the ladies 😅 ) My focus currently is raising seedlings and getting ready to put in a big garden to feed our family this spring / summer and trying to keep on top of the never ending lifestyle maintenance + while keep all the animals feed and happy to 🐑 🐄 🐎 🐓 🐈‍⬛
