Yesterday at the 2026 NCA National Specialty in Rhode Island, USA, two Lasydog boys were honored with Living Legends Awards â€ïž
The Living Legends Award is presented to every Newfoundland who reaches the incredible age of 10+ years.
It was an emotional and bittersweet moment, as Koaâs family had always imagined he would be there himself to receive his award. Sadly, Koa was unexpectedly lost in October last year at 10 years and 4 months old. He would have been so proud to be part of this special moment â€ïž
Instead, Lasydogâs Free as the Wind âMakaniâ proudly represented Koa, alongside Koaâs uncle Oliver (Lasydog's Sir Oliver of Oslo), who received his second Living Legends Award. Together they proudly wore their medals.
As breeders, moments like these mean so much.
