☀️Summer Treat ☀️

A frozen Kong is a great way to keep your dog cool during warmer days, while providing mental enrichment.

Vicky shows you how to make one!

Save this tip for the next warm day 💛

Your dog’s behaviour isn’t random.

Before barking, pulling, freezing, shutting down or “not listening,” there’s a conversation happening through the nervous system.

The problem is that most of us were never taught what those signals actually mean.

Lip licks. Yawns. Whale eyes. Looking away. Scanning. Freezing.

Not bad behaviour.
Not manipulation.
Information.

The more fluent you become in your dog’s body language, the less you’ll need to guess what they need.

Which signal do you notice most often in your own dog? Share in the comments👇

30°C outside? ☀️
Your dog probably does not need a one hour walk in the heat these days.

Mental enrichment can be just as valuable and a lot safer during hot weather. 🧠❄️

Some easy “cool” activities you can do indoors:

🧩 Towel games
Hide snacks inside a rolled up towel and let your dog figure it out.

🥶 Frozen enrichment
Frozen KONGs, lick mats or bone broth ice cubes are perfect for cooling down.

👃 Find it games
Hide treats or toys around the house and let your dog search using their nose.

🎓 Short training sessions
5–10 minutes of learning and focus can be more fulfilling than a long walk in the heat.

🫧 Calm chewing time
Chewing helps many dogs regulate and relax.

🐾 Obstacle games indoors
Use pillows, chairs or blankets to create simple confidence and body awareness exercises.

Remember:
Heat exhaustion in dogs can happen faster than people think.

On very hot days, choosing rest, enrichment and shorter walks is sometimes the best care you can give.

Stay cool these days 🤍

One of the questions we get asked most often is:
“How do the dogs sleep at Shuki’s?”

We are happy to show you.

Every dog sleeps differently, so we make sure they can rest in the way that feels safest and most comfortable to them.

Some dogs sleep together in a cozy room, curled up on beds and couches. Others are crate trained and truly relax best in their own crate, with blankets or bedding.

There is always warmth, comfort and space to fully unwind. Blankets are always available, and when needed, the floors are heated for extra comfort.

Because good rest matters. A dog that sleeps well feels safer, recovers better and can truly relax.

And yes…Sometimes even Shuki needs a nap 💤

The uncomfortable truth?

Some people are more loyal to a training method than to the dog itself.

But dogs are not machines.

The same technique can regulate one dog and overwhelm another.

Training should start with the nervous system, not ideology.
