WCYH Verden - Day 3 & 4 with Tsar v/d Wolfshoeve 👑
The road to this year’s World Championship has been a rocky one.
Losing my mum has had a huge impact on our lives. I knew how much she was looking forward to the possibility of seeing Tsar enter the WC arena for the third time in our career.
We bought his granddam, Veredie N, together. We bred his dam, Khaleesi, together. And Tsar was born in the same year as Emile. ❤️
It has now been 2.5 months since she passed away. There have been many tears. But the horses are always there — keeping you grounded, giving you a reason to keep going.
Getting Tsar selected again this year became a huge motivation for me. And getting his half-brother Uncrowned selected too was the cherry on top. 🍒
Back to Tsar…
The first test on Friday was nice and fluent, with just one mistake in a pirouette. We were missing a little bit of self-carriage, but it was a good start.
Then came the Small Final.
And what a test. 🥹
Light. Rhythmic. Balanced. Focused.
As I entered the arena, I said in my head:
“Here we go, Mum.”
It might sound corny, but in that moment I truly felt she was there with me.
And so was Tsar. ❤️
The judges’ comments were exactly what we have been working towards. The words “happy athlete” basically say it all. They complimented his training scale and way of going, and our 8.0 for submission was the highest submission score of the entire 7-year-old Small Final.
The scores for the test itself may have been a little on the low side, but that’s sport. We finished 9th with 71.8%. 💪
And honestly? We couldn’t be more proud.
To be able to ride a test like that, with a horse like Tsar, on a world stage — after everything that has happened these past months — was incredibly special.
A beautiful end to a beautiful week.
