Dog Park Buitenveldert

Dog Park Buitenveldert Fenced dog park Buitenveldert. Omheind hondenpark Buitenveldert. A secure place where you can let even the anxious and over adventurous dogs run free.

We need your vote on Jan. 30th! We’re lucky to have a lot of green spaces in Buitenveldert for our fluffy friends, including free running spaces, but we would also love a fenced dog park where we can let the dogs play without worrying about them running into nearby traffic or disturbing people passing by. This plan is to suggest adding fences and double gates to existing leash-free green areas, to

form fenced dog parks. With this project we would like to create:
• A safer playground for our dear fluffy friends
• Less disturbance for passers by and traffic
• Social gathering spot for dog lovers

Potential locations: Moersbergen / Europaboulevard / Van Nijenrodeweg, green area west side of Vreugdehof

Detailed plan deemed feasible by city hall can be found here:

An update from the Buurtbudget Zuid voting:
We unfortunately didn’t get enough votes to be among the top 6 projects selected under Public Space pillar.
(There were multiple dog park plans for our neighbourhood, and it’s possible that that may have to some extent fragmented the votes..)

Still, million thanks to everyone who has showed us support.
We will keep trying to find other possibilities to petition this idea, and hopefully it would be realized soon in the future.
More updates will be available both here and on our Instagram page, so follow to stay up-to-date :)

Harmonious coexistence: A fenced dog park lets dogs run, chase, and socialize without them (accidentally, or just being too friendly) approaching people who might be uncomfortable around animals, carrying groceries, pushing strollers, or simply trying to enjoy a quiet walk. The fence eliminates the awkward encounters when someone would rather keep their distance.

Even dogs with generally good recall can lose focus when strong triggers come into play. Being startled by another dog, chasing a squirrel/frisbee, or catching the scent of a dog in heat can override their usual training in a split second. In those moments, they may bolt without awareness of their surroundings, putting themselves at real risk, especially near roads or traffic.
A fenced dog park offers a secure space where dogs can run, explore, and interact freely without those dangers.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆?
Yes we have the Bos, and many green areas and parks, but for some dogs, a fully fenced area is much safer for them to run leash-free.
This may be due to their pawsonality, size, age, and may be spooked if approached by furrends too vigorously etc. etc..
Or also maybe they’re too curious and adventurous, and may just run away chasing that scent or squirrel ;)

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲?
There’re existing government approved leash-free areas (in case you didn’t know, check out that map on gemeente website).

We propose to add to one of these existing areas, depending on budget feasibility:
- Securely tall fences
- Double gates for entrance
- Garbage bins for p**p disposal
- “Obliged to clean up” signs
- Benches & picnic table for the hoomans
and more

Potentially next to Vreudehof along Van Heenvlietlaan, or along Van Nijenrodeweg, to be finalized via discussion with gemeente, if we get chosen with enough votes ;)
