Time for some great news:

FENGI FOUND A NEW FAMILY !

After spending a year with his foster family - two humans and three dogs - Fengi has been adopted. The next phase in his life has arrived. There are no words to describe how happy we are.

Our friendly, beautiful, tall, healthy and shy Fengi was born in Netanya, where he wondered the streets for five years. Then he arrived at our dog shelter. It soon became clear his chances of being adopted in Israel were slim. Thus he was selected to come to the Netherlands to look for a new family for him.

About a year ago, he arrived in Amsterdam, accompanied by his foster mother Ela. Together with her partner and dogs, Ela took Fengi under her wings. Fengi learned to live in a house and in a family. His rehabilitation was remarkable. Mother Ela performed wonders with Fengi. Needless to say that those two developed a very special and strong bond. The journey was long but paved with love, patience and care.

After ten months, Fengi was ready to be adopted. In the clutter of so many dogs given up for adoption, we found ways to get attention. Thanks to persistence and luck, a middle-aged man showed up with strong interest in Fengi. After a few meetings, it was clear. His soon-to-be father and Fengi were a perfect match. A gentle and kind dog lover, who had experience with dogs and the possibility to spend a lot of time with Fengi, at home, in his office, and with family and friends.

We all knew that one day we would need to say goodbye to Fengi. For all of us, but especially for Ela, this was a happy and a tough moment at the same time. The bond and love between Fengi and her were very special and strong. Fengi is a dog that gets under your skin fast and grows quickly in your heart. Ela is the miracle woman that turned Fengi into a happy dog.

Final adoption is what we strive for. Fengi got his happy ending. Now he spends great times with his new father. He lives close to forests and beaches, and spends a lot of time in nature. What more can a dog wish for … Fengi has found his final destination where he can live a warm, loving and relaxed life.

We wish Fengi and his father happiness and health. Fengi … you will always have a special place in our hearts.

Fengi's Journey

Fengi was first spotted as a young stray dog in the coastal city of Netanya. He lived for a few months in a parking lot of abandoned cars.

After a few months the municipality had to catch him and move him to the local shelter. He spent more than a year in a small cage.

His time had started to run out. The shelter was over crowded and he was named as one of the next dogs to be put down.

As he was a shy dog, nobody believed he has a chance of ever becoming social enough to be able to live with a family.

It was decided to move him to a doggy day care. Another cage, but at least more playtime. And a loving staff, with whom he started to build trust

After a long proccess, the unbeliebable happened. Fengi was adopted by a family with another dog. But he kept running away until he was caught by the municipality and put into a cage once again

His chances of being adopted to the right, patient family in Israel seemed nonexistent. Thats when we decided to fly him to Amsterdam, to a foster home, and look for a forever home for him abroad

The journey is proving to be succesful every day. Fengi is gaining confidence and is now acting like the perfect family dog!

He enjoyes being touched, and even gently asks for more. He is being playful and funny. We are so happy we got the chance to help this precious, gentle soul!

And hopefully, more dogs and cats will have that chance in the future
