An idea that had been living in my head for quite some time finally became reality last Sunday, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out 💙 Our Caring for Diabetic Cats: What Every Cat Sitter Should Know workshop, organised by Multicatsking Cat-sitting Amsterdam brought together 15 cat sitters from different parts of the Netherlands for an afternoon of learning, sharing experiences, and growing our confidence as professionals.
A huge thank you to Dr Kelly Debeane from Mokum Mobile Vet, who generously shared her knowledge and expertise. We learned not only about feline diabetes and insulin administration, but also about our role as carers, how to communicate with clients, and how to navigate challenging situations that can arise while caring for diabetic cats.
Of course, we also got some hands-on practice giving injections to our very patient stuffed tigers 🐯💉 and had plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
Knowledge is the foundation, confidence comes with practice, and I hope this workshop has given everyone a strong start on that journey.
This was the first workshop I've organised for our Cat Sitters of Amsterdam community and beyond, and I truly hope it's only the beginning. Professional cat sitters deserve opportunities to learn, connect, and access information tailored specifically to the work we do. The better informed we are, the better care we can provide to the cats who depend on us. My dream? To have a whole network of confident, well-trained cat sitters ready to support all kitties whenever they need us. Professional cat sitters never stop learning, and we're here for it 💪😼
