Happy Ginger Cat Appreciation Day!

I was going to share a bunch of fav photos of the numerous ginger cat patients I care for, but I quickly became overwhelmed. Soo many orange cuties 🧡

So instead, here is a photo of our ginger female cat (rare) actually cuddling (rare for her) while I watch RuPaul’s Drag Race (not at all rare for me). 🧡🧡🧡

August availability update 🗓️

Just a quick heads-up that I’ll have reduced availability on two Fridays during August:

• Friday 7 August: No house call appointments. I’ll still be available by phone/email for existing clients until mid-afternoon.

• Friday 21 August: No house calls or phone availability.

The rest of my schedule remains unchanged, though I will add some extra availability on mornings of Wed 19 and 26 Aug.

Who says old cats can’t learn new tricks? MP (short for Mary Poppins) knows exactly what happens when she steps on the scale — treats!

In fact, she had a hard time leaving the scale during the whole visit today…just waiting and waiting, going on and off the scale over and over expecting for more treats to appear 😂

A personal update 🤍

Our family is expecting a baby girl later this autumn, and we're feeling incredibly grateful and excited. This news feels especially meaningful after a longer road to get here.

Some of you may have noticed that I was a little quieter than usual earlier this year, with slower replies or fewer appointment times. I wasn't feeling well (i.e., I felt terrible) during the first few months of pregnancy, so thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

For now, it's very much business as usual at Mokum Mobile Vet. I'll continue seeing patients over the coming months, with some gradual scheduling adjustments as I get closer to the due date (~ 2 Nov).

I expect to begin maternity leave in October and will share more detailed plans well in advance so everyone has plenty of time to prepare, especially if your animal is due for vaccinations, routine check-ups, blood tests, or ongoing treatment.

Thank you, as always, for the trust you've placed in me to care for your animals and for supporting this small, independent practice. It truly means a lot to me.

Can't wait to introduce our newest little cat lover later this year. 💕

Pickle ❤️

I first met Pickle back when I was at Dierendokters. She was a tiny, skinny kitten with relentless diarrhea, and after a lot of diagnostics, she was eventually diagnosed with FIP by Utrecht University.

Seeing her today made my day. She’s healthy, fluffy, social as ever, and was climbing onto my backpack during the first minute of the house call. She’s also not having diarrhea anymore! I remember celebrating her first solid p**p last year with her caretakers 😅🏆

I’m so grateful that effective FIP treatment is now legally available in the Netherlands. Watching cats like Pickle get to grow up and live long, happy lives is pretty amazing. ❤️

Monika (“Nika”) will completely panic in the transport carrier leaving the house for the vet clinic. With some patience, pre-visit gabapentin, and low touch handling (and not a closed room), she eventually was showing off her belly and making biscuits while I listened to her heart. She also tolerated a vaccination and a dental check. Good thing as the exam revealed she has a couple of problem teeth that need some extra follow-up care. Until next time Nika 😘

Ginger enjoys his garden sanctuary just before (and after) he gets his monthly Solensia injection for arthritis. He didn’t even have to leave his sunny spot☀️🧡
