The Heartbreaking Story of Mama Fruti 💔
This is the tragic story of Fruti, a devoted mama dog who was simply searching for a scrap of food on the streets of Beaufort, Sabah. In a split second, her world shattered: she was struck by a speeding car and plunged helpless into a deep, cold drain.
The accident left her completely paralyzed, trapping her at the bottom of the wet concrete pit.
Despite her agonizing pain, Fruti dragged her broken body through the water, crying out desperately into the dark. She wasn't crying for herself—she was terrified for her hungry puppies who were waiting back in the shadows, expecting their mother to return and feed them.
Only God knows how many endless hours she suffered down there, until a kind neighbor heard faint, desperate barking. That was when she discovered poor Fruti, huddled in a heartbreaking, helpless state.
Panicked, the resident posted on social media, begging nearby rescuers and volunteers to rush to her aid. But no one came. In desperation, she finally reached out to our team. Without a second thought, we packed our bags and drove all the way from Tuaran to Beaufort to save the dog we would come to call Fruti.
When we finally pulled poor Fruti to safety, she bravely led us back to her hiding place, hoping against hope to feed her babies. But it was too late. They were all gone—tragically believed to have been eaten by monitor lizards 😢.
Look into Fruti's eyes, you can see the profound sorrow and devastation written all over her face.
If only help had reached her just a little bit sooner, she might have lived to protect her precious babies.
If only that cruel car had missed her, she would never have fallen into the drain or lost the use of her legs.
If only humanity wasn't so often blind and indifferent to the suffering of street animals, mama Fruti could have made it back on time to hold her family together 😔.
Fruti was sent to Klinik haiwan & surgeri haiwan for check up and vet confirmed that she has a broken spine and wounds on her leg, head and body.
Fruti’s paralysis from the accident is permanent and can never be reversed. But we promised her one thing: she will never, ever have to face the cruelty of the streets again.
We are praying that time will heal her heavy, broken heart as she slowly learns to trust and adjust at our foster home, surrounded by other resilient, paralyzed furry friends.
Fruti's journey of healing has only just begun, and she needs our help now more than ever. If you wish to sponsor her X-ray fees, medical treatments to treat her wounds and ongoing care, please consider sending a donation below:
