Your Pug’s shedding may need more than another bath.
If you’re finding fur on your clothes, sofa, floor and almost everywhere else, bathing alone may not solve the problem.
A normal bath mainly cleans the coat and skin.
De-shedding has a different job. It focuses on removing loose fur and dead undercoat that are already ready to come out.
1. Bathing cleans. De-shedding removes loose fur. A clean coat can still shed heavily. That’s because cleaning the surface does not remove all the loose undercoat trapped underneath.
2. Pugs can leave fur everywhere.
You may bathe your Pug and still find fur on the sofa the next day. That does not automatically mean the bath “didn’t work”.
The loose undercoat still needs attention.
3. De-shedding also helps remove dirt and dead skin. The grooming reference describes de-shedding as helping remove loose fur, dirt and dead skin while supporting a healthier-looking coat. So the goal is more than making the coat look clean after a bath.
4. More baths are not always the answer.
If your main complaint is excessive shedding, simply adding more baths may miss the actual issue. The better question is: “How much loose undercoat needs to be removed?”
5. Regular coat care matters.
When loose fur is left in the coat, you’ll continue seeing it around the home as your Pug sheds naturally.
A proper de-shedding session focuses on the fur that is ready to come out.
The key difference is simple:
Bathing cleans the coat. De-shedding focuses on the loose coat. If excessive fur is your biggest Pug-care headache, knowing that difference can help you choose the right grooming service.
Save this for your next Pug grooming appointment.

Is your house covered in pet hair? Your pet may need more than a normal bath.
A normal bath cleans your pet.
But if you are still finding hair on the sofa, floor, clothes and everywhere else, the problem may be the loose coat that is still trapped underneath.
That is where de-shedding and proper coat care come in.
De-shedding focuses on removing loose, dead hair from the coat.
A bath can wash away dirt and odour. It does not automatically remove all the loose undercoat that is ready to fall out around your home.
The right grooming process can help remove that excess loose hair before it ends up on your furniture.
But not every pet needs the same treatment.
A short-haired dog can still shed heavily. A double-coated breed may need more attention during heavier shedding periods. Long-haired pets can also trap loose hair and develop tangles if the coat is not properly maintained.
This is why brushing matters too.
Regular brushing helps remove loose hair before it spreads around the house. It also gives you a chance to check the coat for tangles and areas that may need extra care.
And coat care is not about making your pet look pretty for one day.
When loose hair builds up, the coat can become harder to manage. For pets with thicker or longer coats, neglected loose hair and tangles can turn grooming into a more uncomfortable experience.
If your pet is shedding more than usual, grooming may help manage the coat. But excessive or sudden shedding can also have causes that need attention beyond grooming.
The goal is simple.
Do not wait until your whole house is wearing your pet's coat.
Give the coat the care it actually needs.

Your pet smells again only 2–3 days after grooming? Here’s why.
Moisture trapped in the coat, skin issues, dirty bedding, and environmental odours can quickly bring back unpleasant smells. Regular care helps keep your pet fresher longer!
