Nobody in this industry wants to admit how hard it is to find a groomer, so we’ll go first. Honestly, we’re still trying to work out what’s wrong with us. 😅

Our plan this year was to upgrade our grooming facility, and we ended up spending almost RM100k on a room under 2,000 square feet. New bathtub, new dryer, the whole room built from scratch, because we wanted a groomer to walk in and find it comfortable and easy to work in. But we still don’t have a groomer to put in it.

It turns out it isn’t only us, either. We ask every business owner we meet, and some have kept the same groomer for years, some have moved to mobile grooming and started their own centre, and plenty of people learn it and never see it as a career.

Over the years, we’ve only managed to hire part-time groomers but they were never sustainable. Neither of us had a choice but to go and learn grooming ourselves, because hiring a full-time groomer turned out to be impossible. So this is us putting ourselves out there that we’re properly looking for a groomer to come and join us.

In is common in the pet service industry to work 6 days a week but not with us. You’d work five days a week here, and one of your days off is always a weekend day. We are doing this full time ourselves and we know it’s always impossible to eat lunch on time, and when we did we gobbled it down in seconds. The work takes it out of you, and weekends matter.

We’ve tried to build the job properly too. Everything is on the books with EPF and SOCSO, there’s pet insurance and pet leave, and you can bring your own dog to work with you as long as she meets our requirements. We’re big believers in constant improvement, so yearly training has always been in our calendar to benefit the individual and the team.

We’re a loud, fun bunch and we’d love you to meet us. We put the team in teamwork here and we play as hard as we work. Ever since forming a team 3 years ago we have travelled to Bangkok, Genting and most recently, Shanghai when we hit our target. Often times as caregivers, we tend to overlook ourselves so knowing when to rest is important!

Every year, we set aside a day to go through pet first aid as a team.

Truthfully, we hope we’ll never need to use it. But when you’re responsible for someone else’s family, hoping isn’t enough.

We’re grateful to be surrounded by many vet clinics just minutes away but in an emergency, the first few moments matter. Knowing what to do before reaching the clinic can make all the difference.

A big thank you to Dr. Goh from Goh Veterinary & Surgery for patiently training our team year after year. 💚

It’s one of the many promises we make to the dogs in our care, even when repetitive training like these can be mundane and boring 😂

Every year, we like to prepare a little something for our dog parents. And since May is our anniversary month, plus Mother’s Day and Father’s Day season, we thought why not make it a little more chaotic, a little more fun, and very Fetch Me Later? 😂
