He can look fine at 8pm and be in the ER by midnight. Urinary blockage in male cats is that fast.
And it's usually not bad luck — it's the kibble. Dry food is ~10% moisture, urine stays concentrated, crystals build.
Extra water bowls won't fix it. Cats just aren't wired to drink enough.
The fix isn't making him drink more. It's letting him eat his water.
