Urethral prolapse in dogs happens when the inner lining of the tube carrying urine sticks out as a red or purple pea-sized mass at the tip of the p***s.

Causes and Risk Factors

Breed type: Mostly affects young male canines that are unneutered, particularly brachycephalic breeds like French and English Bulldogs.
Excitement or mating behaviour: Excessive excitement or sexual arousal raises local blood pressure and flow.
Abdominal pressure: The lining is forced outward by breathing difficulties (BOAS), coughing, or urinary tract infections.

Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) in cats is a rare spinal condition where the cushioning discs between the vertebrae bulge, herniate, or rupture. This condition puts pressure on the patient's spinal cord and nerves, where it leads to pain, weakness, or possible paralysis. It occurs infrequently in felines, but common to happen in dogs.

Please know that..most dog and cats with early heartworm infection are asymptomatic..they can look normal.

There are 4 stages
Stage 1 : Asymptomatic, where the dig is infectrd but shows no symptoms

Stage 2: Mild symptoms, slight cough and exercise intolerance

Stage 3: Severe symptoms, pronounced cough, blood flecks in cough, exercise intolerance

Stage 4: Heart failure, with swollen belly, persistent coughing and extreme lethargy. Can be fatal

50% of dogs with severe pulmonary vascular complication to Heart Worm Disease will develop heart failure.

Clinical signs variably include weight loss, exercise intolerance, ascites, dypsnea, jugular venous distension, abdominal distension or pleural fluid.
