Last week’s harvest was not quite satisfactory. But this week is a different story… sweet, fragrant, crunchy, yummy!!

Two weeks ago, our farmer friend Ah Kong invited us to his orchard to harvest rambutans, mangosteens, duku langsat—and durians, if any were available. Unfortunately, most of the fruits were not fully ripened then. This time, however, the abundance is simply awesome! I should also mention that Ah Kong dropped by earlier with a whole crate of durians. We are truly blessed!

Volunteer teachers from the Serdang Buddhist Association Sunday Dhamma Class came to HappyLand for a weekend retreat — and what a wonderful time they had! They were welcomed with a durian feast, followed by scrumptious home-cooked vegetarian meals and engaging team-building activities. Not to mention joyrides on the ATV! To balance all the energy and excitement, there were also indoor meditation and prayer sessions. They were a lively, fun-loving group, quick to laughter and full of joy, which made for great camaraderie. I’m quite sure this won’t be the last time we host them!

Woah… woah… woah!! The gifts just kept coming! During fruiting season, our farmer friends showed incredible generosity of spirit, sharing an abundance that truly brought great joy 😍.

Harvesting our rambutan. Mangosteen not so much. A couple of rainstorms recently have destroyed a lot of its flowers and fruitlets. Those that survived are still quite raw.

A few months ago, our dear friend Lily Siew passed us a bunch of exotic orchids while decluttering before her move. She confessed that some had been terribly neglected and were in dire need of care. We brought them back to the farm, gently untangled their roots, trimmed them down, and gave them a new home to thrive. And just two days ago, a few of them rewarded us by bursting into bloom! Proof that no effort is ever wasted—and that hope should never be given up on. 🌸
