FROM THE SHELTERS TO PARLIAMENT: MAWA TAKES THE STRAY ANIMAL SOLUTION FORWARD
Yesterday, MAWA Malaysia had the opportunity to meet YB Syahredzan Johan, Member of Parliament for Bangi, to present our Humane, Preventive and Accountable Stray Animal Management Solution.
In just 20 minutes, we outlined the root causes of the stray animal crisis, preventive measures, our proposed hybrid approach, and what is required to make the solution work on the ground.
YB Syahredzan acknowledged the challenges faced by society, government and animal welfare groups, and the need for a practical and workable solution that addresses the problem from end to end.
MAWA has requested his support to bring the proposal to MPKJ and raise the issue in Parliament.
YB Syahredzan has agreed to study the full proposal before taking it forward.
This is not about blame.
It is about finding a system that prevents suffering, supports communities, helps local authorities and creates a sustainable solution to Malaysia’s stray animal problem.
MAWA sincerely thanks YB Syahredzan for taking the time to listen, understand and engage with our proposal.
From the shelters to the council chambers — and now towards Parliament — MAWA will continue pushing for a humane, preventive and accountable solution.
🐾 The problem is real.
The solution must be practical.
The time for action is now.
