2 more M’s joined the MJP (I've been neutered) family today! 🎉

Minerva and Marble-Cake were neutered under our SAMA MJP subsidy TNR project which brings us to *7 cats total* so far.

Each one has an M name in loving memory of Margaret, in who's name The very kind donation was made.
The beautiful M's so far are
*Margaret → Maggie-Mei → Max → Milo → Meatball → Minerva → Marble Cake*

I know “neutering” doesn’t sound exciting, but it’s the kindest, most important thing we can do to reduce strays humanely. And at SAMA, every street cat matters. We insist each one is given a name. They are not numbers to us.
A name gives them dignity and proof they were seen, cared for and thought about before going back to their colonies on the streets.

If only we had more adopters and fosters… *we really need fosters.* If you’ve ever thought about fostering, please message us. You will save at least one who has epileptic fits from going back to the streets...

Huge thanks to Tina who strives on daily and all those like her, the feeders who make this possible.
Feeders are our heroes!
It’s all teamwork. _Bersama SAMA_ 💛

Something beautiful is happening for the animals 💛

An incredible artist has been in Penang painting stunning Acrylics of our city and has created an exhibition entitled ‘Meeting Vincent’. She’s generously donating 50% of all proceeds to SAMA to support our neutering and TNR work!

Carol M Bowen has been depicting reflections of Penang with a breathtaking velocity for 60 days inspired by the final months of Vincent Van Gogh. Where East meets Vincent is the joyful union of impressionism and the vibrance of Asia!
The colours of our culture and the bustle of Georgetown blending with the Andaman Sea, flora and fauna of our island is also a meeting like no other.
What an inviting invite for all Penangites!

We are so excited to see this celebration of brushwork on canvas that comes from kindness and generosity. How through Meeting Vincent, she has been able to dissolve gloom with light gives us hope for all the homeless animals on the streets. There is no way we can all thank her enough.

Come and see for yourselves and celebrate with us at the Artist, Carol M Bowen's Talk & Opening Reception on
Saturday, 25th April at 7 PM
📍 Hikayat, 226 Lebuh Pantai (almost opposite China House)

Artist with heArt, Art for a cause and entrance is free!! We would love to see you there.

Katie’s back from the vet and she’s _smiling_ again 🥰

Our hearts are so full seeing her back with Vaneytha who she missed so much. This is why we save the ones in front of us watching them heal, feeling that hope come back.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, you could even learn how to do a subcut for dogs like Katie who needs subcutaneous fluids.

It’s beautiful to see them thrive. Message us if you’d like to be part of it. 💛

Meanwhile Yara went back for a check up one side of her lungs is good the other still has some fluid so trying some different antibiotics.

Chatty little Curly!
Curly was found writhing on the ground unable to stand, crying out in pain, completely alone. Her mother was nowhere to be found… and she was small and fragile.
She was brought to Cuddles thank you very much and placed in ICU with a traumatic brain injury.
They thought she was fierce but she was in agony. Her heartbreaking cries stayed with you long after you walked away.
But even then…the moment a hand touched her, Curly's tiny body would relax, just a little. And she purred.
She chose to trust even after being clubbed on the head...
Slowly, day by day Curly began to improve.
But she craved love and her mummy. Her movements became steadier. The pain didn’t disappear overnight but neither did her will to keep going.
And then, something beautiful happened.
She found a home with someone who simply wanted to love her and to take in a cat that really needed someone. Thank you so much to her adopter who was there, to give her the chance she almost didn’t have. And in that home, there was another cat, one of our cats named Granite from Hillside who took her in like his own.
A daddy cat who Curly curls up beside at night, safe at last, as if she had found the mother she lost.
She still has little head shakes a quiet reminder of her past.
But now… she’s so chatty and so cute, affectionate, and full of life.
She wasn’t given a perfect start.
But she found her way to a perfect home.
We called her Curly because we wanted her to always be able to curl up with somebody and our wish for her came true.

Hi all through grief over Shammy, Life Goes On. And today we have good news to share: both Katie and Blessing have been discharged! 💛

Katie still needs subcutaneous fluids and medications as she continues healing, but she’s home at her boarding.
And little Blessing… at 6-8 weeks old, this amazing kitten has already overcome so much.

Thank you for standing with us. Your love helped to make this possible.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every prayer, donation, and kind word.

Further updates
Yesterday another cat was neutered under PMJ - sticking with M theme - Meatball!

We have one poor cat still in hospital and that is Midnight.
He also needs a fosterer as do many so if anyone is interested in fostering pls let us know.

The fire kittens all had their first deworm but all have eye infections 🤦🏼‍♀️

6 JLT cats had their booster vacs and deworm!

Help, volunteers and funds are always needed on this roller coaster of compassion.

In Loving Memory of Shammy from Shamrock Beach.
He was more than just a community cat, he was a symbol of connection, a free spirit whose very name felt like an invitation: “share me.”
And thats what he did, he shared himself with everyone he met.
A free spirit who we have had *adventures* with since 2021 when he was neutered.

Shammy loved people. When he spotted his favourite humans, he would run towards them, crying out, not in distress but in pure joy to see them. He was very chatty, as if he had stories to tell about his day. He was deeply loving and simply wanted to be close, to connect, to love and be loved in return.
Back in 2023, he lost many of his fellow community friends to accidents and Sunny said i hope that never happens to Shammy. But 3 years later the worst happened.
A vehicle knocked his spine and we did everything we could to help him regain his freedom. For that, we are deeply grateful to Windsor Animal Hospital for their care and love.
Yesterday, despite his strength and spirit, we received the call no one ever wants, the one that tells you it’s time to say goodbye.

The day before, one of us sat with Shammy and told him: whatever you choose, we will support you. If you want to fight, we will fight with you all the way. If you are ready to let go, we will support your decision.
It has been our honour to know and love such a special soul.
Shammy touched so many lives. People continue to ask after him, a testament to how deeply he was loved. He will be missed beyond words.
Our deepest condolences go to his feeders, and especially to Sunny, who shared so many moments with him and took him in.
We also extend heartfelt thanks to all donors and everyone who cared for him, who fed him, watched over him and showed him kindness. A special thank you to Elaine, who found him that night and rushed him to the hospital without hesitation.

If only roads were safer. If only kindness was more abundant.
We are grieving, and we know the staff at Windsor are too because they loved him as well.
Shammy, you are unique.
We love you, always and forever.
A very special boy.
So hard to let you go...

Hi everyone
Yes we are still a neutering society despite having so many that need saving in front of us lately.

TNR (Trap Neuter Return) is the long term solution to help manage the community cat and dog population in a humane and sustainable way and reduce the need for rescuing...

We began a subsidised project for 10 cats in loving memory of Margaret and in her honour.

We are so thankful for this donation given by her family it means so much that they think of homeless animals through their grief.

We kicked off Project Margaret Jelutong (PMJ) with four cats.
The first is named Margaret and the second female is Maggie Mei in loving memory.

A special thank you to Tina on the ground for her tireless efforts and in making this possible.

If anyone wishes to add on or top up to this effort in a beloved mother's name (Margaret or PMJ) it would be so touching for the family.

Thank you for your continued support and compassion for those who have no voice 🐾

I'm sure you must be on the edge of your seat like we were last night during the emergency surgery thanks to Windsor Animal Hospital.
Blessing made it through!
Poor little baby he's as small as a mouse.

This is his condition: (11/4/2026 8pm):

- Urethra completely shattered
- Bladder mildly ruptured - repaired during surgery
- Perineal urethrostomy (urine will go through a hole connected directly to bladder)
- Good that lungs condition stabilized compared to the first night xray
- Close monitoring for at least 3 days
- Checked blood condition results pictured

Key issues for long-term
- the “hole” may have the tendency to close as time goes by (may need minor repairs)
- risk of UTI
- may have physical restrictions on his back limbs..
-
He has also pulled through the first night he's really a fighter please help us give him something to fight for please help us find him his person who will be his mummy or daddy and make his life better from now on.

This is going to cost us a bomb please also spare a little change to make a big change for Blessing.

Update on our precious babies 🧡
Shammy was very tense and needed a procedure to help relieve his bladder but in so doing his legs started moving and he even managed to poo by himself!

Katie, however, is very quiet and tired right now. She could really use some extra love, gentle visits and positive thoughts.

As we write this, little Blessing is in surgery after vets discovered a ruptured bladder. Our hearts are aching for him, he’s been through so much already. We’re all hoping he can keep fighting.
We will continue to keep you updated.

If you’re able to support their care in any way, donations and well wishes mean so much to us.

Thank you to everyone rooting for them, please continue to hold them in your hearts and prayers 🐾

Just when we thought things were getting better… 💔
Yara has been discharged and Shammy can p*e by himself now which is such brilliant news. For a moment, it really felt like we were finally at the top of the roller coaster.
And then… down we go again.
This tiny kitten was dumped outside one of our team's family home... After a horrific accident, looks like wheels ran over his back legs and he was left out in the cold too long before being found and dumped.
Alone and suffering now safe but he’s fighting for his life.
There’s blood in his urine and parvo on top of everything else. His little body is so fragile but he’s still holding on.
We’re asking for your prayers, your love for baby Blessings.
We also need funds to keep him in hospital.
Shammy also still in Windsor having lazer and our Katie girl has been admitted in Cuddles with very high fever and kidneys and liver off the charts and an infection 💔
Poor Katie needs our prayers too and they all need visitors.
Never ending roller coaster we are on.

Update on Shammy 💔
We were wishing him luck for his surgery although very worried as hes weak...
Then we got a call from the vet with unexpected news. Shammy has tested positive for FIV, which means his immune system is weaker than we hoped. Because of this, surgery is now too risky and cannot go ahead.
Instead, the vets are starting a 6-day course of laser therapy to reduce inflammation and give his body the best chance to heal naturally. There is hope that his bone can heal on its own (even if a little crooked) and that once the swelling goes down, he may be able to p*e and poo by himself again 🤍
This could be good news in disguise as the thought of him going through surgery was a huge weight.

Right now, the focus is on building his strength, supporting his immune system and most importantly getting him to eat.
This isn’t the path we expected, but it’s the one he needs.
We’re holding onto hope and trusting that his body can fight through this with the right support.

Please keep sending all your prayers, love, and rockets for Shammy 🚀✨ He needs all the strength he can get right now and any visitirs he would love to see you.
Thank you to Animal Hospital.

We’ve known Shammy since 2021 — a street cat who has touched so many hearts.
He isn’t owned by anyone but loved by many.

A true community cat, always walking around, greeting people, living life on his own terms.

When he was found on his back and kindly brought in late at night by a feeder, he was in terrible condition, on top of being hit by a vehicle he had severe liver issues, jaundice, a fractured spine and leg and even his old surgical pin had come out.

Still the next day, he tried to greet us.

Yesterday, he went very quiet. We were worried.
But today, there is hope. He seems brighter and his results have improved so he is scheduled for surgery tomorrow.

Right now, Shammy can’t walk, p*e, or poo on his own. If he can’t recover these functions, his life will never be the same.
He has always loved his freedom. We can’t bear the thought of him losing that completely.
We’re asking for your support — donations, prayers, or simply well wishes. Please help Shammy make it through the surgery and have a chance to walk again and p*e and poo on his own.
