We did it. Catsoterra has officially surpassed 1,000 cats sterilized through our TNR program.
What began as a grassroots community project in 2025 has grown into something we could have only imagined. More than 1,000 cats later, this milestone represents countless hours of trapping, transporting, coordinating, recovering, fundraising, building, and believing that large-scale TNR in Penang is possible.
Along the way, we built our interactive TNR Dashboard—a platform that tracks our impact, gamifies animal welfare, and allows volunteers to book and manage TNR appointments. Today, we have a growing community of members, two veterinary clinic partners, and local businesses and organizations supporting our mission.
We want to recognize some of the incredible partners who have helped us get here.
Thank you to My Pet Funeral and Omega Pets for contributing financially toward our work. Thank you to Catonomy for supporting us throughout this journey, and to Dreamer’s Art Haven for helping us host community events. We are also grateful to Maybank for inviting us to participate in an educational session with local students.
Most importantly, we want to recognize our veterinary partners.
When Catsoterra first began, we approached numerous veterinary clinics with an idea: work with us to make high-volume, affordable TNR possible.
Penang Veterinary Centre was the clinic that stepped forward and gave a small, unknown organization a chance. Their team offered us rates designed to make large-scale sterilization possible and committed their time, facilities, staff, and resources to helping us build this program.
As we grew, Windsor Animal Hospital helped us expand our TNR operations onto mainland Penang through its Simpang Ampat clinic.
Our veterinary partners have sacrificed significant potential revenue by supporting subsidized TNR rates. Their contribution to this project goes far beyond performing surgeries, and we are incredibly grateful for the role they have played in helping us reach 1,000 cats.
Finally, and above all else, thank you to our volunteers.
TNR is not glamorous work. It requires time, patience, transportation, fuel, food, recovery care, sleepless nights, and often personal financial sacrifice. Much of this work happens quietly, with little recognition.
But it matters.
TNR must be done at scale to create lasting change, and every volunteer who traps one cat, transports one cat, monitors one recovery, or returns one sterilized community cat is contributing to something much larger.
Our volunteers have shown what simple acts of kindness, repeated hundreds and thousands of times, can accomplish.
And 1,000 cats is only the beginning.
Our next goal: 2,500 cats sterilized by the end of 2027.
We are still a very small administrative team managing an increasingly large operation behind the scenes, and there is an enormous amount of work ahead of us. But this past year has shown us what is possible when clinics, businesses, volunteers, organizations, and ordinary members of the community work toward the same goal.
We hope even more Penangites will join the Catsoterra Dashboard and become part of this movement.
Together, we can build a better Penang—not only for the people who call this island home, but for all of its inhabitants.
To every volunteer, clinic, partner, business, member, and supporter who helped us reach 1,000:
Thank you. ❤️🐾
Onward to 2,500.
