【Koocing Cat Hotel Closure Announcement】
Dear valued cat parents,
It is with a very heavy heart that we would like to announce that Koocing Cat Hotel will soon be closing its doors.
This is not an easy announcement for us to make. Koocing Cat Hotel has never been just a business to us. It has been a place built with love, responsibility, trust, and many meaningful memories.
Since we started in 2020, this journey has been precious, challenging, and deeply meaningful. Over the years, we have had the privilege of caring for many beloved cats and earning the trust of many cat parents. For that, we are truly grateful.
To every customer who has supported us, trusted us, and placed your cats in our care — thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We would also like to sincerely thank all our past and present team members. Your hard work, patience, care, and dedication helped Koocing Cat Hotel come this far. Every clean room, every feeding, every update, every gentle touch, and every little moment of care mattered.
Koocing Cat Hotel first began because our owner is also a cat parent himself. His beloved cat, Mr Pi, was the inspiration behind the heart of this place — even our logo was inspired by Mr Pi.
From the very beginning, our standards were set with one simple thought in mind:
“If this were Mr Pi, my own cat, what kind of place would I feel safe and comfortable leaving him in?”
That mindset became the foundation of how Koocing Cat Hotel was built and operated.
We did not want to create just another cat boarding place. We wanted to create a boutique cat hotel where cats could be cared for with patience, cleanliness, responsibility, and respect.
Throughout the years, we have always tried our best to place the health, safety, and comfort of every cat as our top priority.
From vaccination requirements and check-in procedures to daily care, hygiene, cleaning routines, sanitising, and overall management, we have always aimed to maintain a high standard.
We understand that running a cat boarding hotel is not just about providing a space for cats to stay. It requires daily observation, consistent care, proper hygiene management, attention to detail, and a strong sense of responsibility toward every life entrusted to us.
Maintaining this standard every day has never been easy.
When we set high requirements for our service, it also means that our team has had to give more time, effort, patience, and care behind the scenes.
For that, we are truly thankful to every team member who has contributed to Koocing Cat Hotel along the way.
We are also deeply thankful to the customers who understood and supported our high standards. Thank you for understanding why we placed importance on vaccination requirements, hygiene rules, standard operating procedures, careful daily observation, appointment-based grooming, and scheduled full cleaning and sanitising sessions.
These requirements were never meant to make things difficult. They were part of our effort to protect the health, safety, and emotional comfort of every cat entrusted to us.
Over the years, our daily observation has also helped us notice when some cats were not behaving as usual during their stay. There were several occasions where our team informed the owners and advised them to bring their cats to a veterinarian for further checking.
In a few cases, this helped owners discover health concerns earlier, allowing their cats to receive medical attention and treatment sooner.
These moments reminded us why responsible care is so important. Sometimes, small changes in a cat’s behaviour can be easy to miss. But when we truly pay attention, we may be able to help a cat receive the care they need earlier.
This is why we have always believed that cat boarding is not only about space. It is about observation, awareness, responsibility, and genuine care.
The same care was also applied to our cat grooming services.
We may also be among the few in Penang who started practising a fully appointment-based cat grooming system. Instead of asking customers to drop off their cats and only collect them after grooming was completed later in the day, we arranged grooming by appointment so that each cat could be attended to within a planned time slot.
After the cat arrived, we would allow them some time to settle down. Once they were calmer and more comfortable, the grooming would be completed within the next one to two hours, and the cat could then return home soon after.
This was done because we understood that cats can easily feel stressed in an unfamiliar environment. We did not want them to stay outside for longer than necessary. A fully appointment-based system allowed us to reduce waiting time, lower stress, and make the grooming experience gentler for the cats.
Koocing Cat Hotel has also operated seven days a week, with staff present every day to ensure that the cats in our care are properly looked after.
We are also among the few cat boarding places that would pause operations for one to two days when needed, simply to carry out full cleaning and sanitising.
Even though this meant giving up business days, we believed it was necessary — because the wellbeing of the cats always mattered more to us.
However, after much thought and careful consideration, we have had to face the reality of our current situation.
Our main person in charge is also heavily involved in another business, which now requires a great amount of time, focus, and commitment.
After reaching a point where he realised he could no longer give Koocing Cat Hotel the level of attention, supervision, and management it truly deserves, this difficult decision had to be made.
This decision comes with a lot of sadness and a sense of guilt toward our customers.
But we believe that running a cat hotel should never be done half-heartedly. It requires consistent management, responsibility, supervision, and genuine care every single day.
If we are no longer able to give Koocing Cat Hotel the time, focus, and commitment it needs, we would rather be honest and bring this journey to a proper close, instead of continuing without being able to uphold the standard we believe in.
This full stop is not easy for us.
Koocing Cat Hotel has carried many stories, many familiar faces, and many precious little lives. Some cats came to us shy and nervous. Some slowly learned to settle in. Some returned to us many times until they felt like part of our extended Koocing family.
Every stay, every update, every gentle meow, every curious face looking out from the room — all these memories will remain close to our hearts.
Although Koocing Cat Hotel will be closing, the trust, support, memories, and kindness we have received throughout these years will always remain with us.
Thank you for walking this journey with us.
Thank you for trusting us with your beloved cats.
Thank you for understanding why we cared so much about the details.
And most of all, thank you for allowing Koocing Cat Hotel to be part of your cats’ lives, even if only for a short stay.
We wish every cat who has ever stayed with us continued health, comfort, safety, and love.
With sincere gratitude and love,
Koocing Cat Hotel
