Moderation is key! Sodium chloride is naturally occurring in meats and food items, so as long as they are fed a diet already meeting macronutrient requirements, then the requirements for sodium chloride is met! That being said, not having it in the diet at all is also a problem.
So if you do see salt added in the diet, as long as it is still within recommended levels, it is there for a purpose ๐
Fun fact โ๏ธGrowth diets (puppies and kittens) actually require MORE sodium chloride for their nerve and muscular function, compared to adults ๐ก
