These cuties are the reason I keep going… 💖✨
For the past five years, this community has made something incredible possible. Together, we’ve helped more than 130 cats find loving homes while continuing to care for the cats currently in Casa de Patas’ care who are seniors, have chronic illnesses, disabilities, FIV, or simply need lifelong care.
I will never be able to thank you enough for making that possible.
The reality is that rescue is expensive.
Every month there are the expected costs of food, litter, medications, utilities, and ongoing veterinary care. Those expenses never stop, and your support has helped keep Casa de Patas going through it all.
What has become increasingly difficult is catching up on our outstanding veterinary account.
Whenever donations come in, they are used wherever they are needed most. Some months that’s food and litter. Other months it’s medications, routine care, or unexpected emergencies. As a result, paying down older veterinary debt has become incredibly difficult while still making sure the cats have everything they need each day.
My goal is to reduce our outstanding veterinary debt as much as possible before the end of the year so that our regular monthly support can be used for the cats’ everyday needs instead of constantly balancing current expenses with past ones.
For the last five years, I’ve done everything I can to keep Casa de Patas going. Alongside the rescue, I’ve taken on more work to support both the cats and my own everyday living expenses.
If I’m honest, I’m tired.
Not because I don’t love this work. I truly do. These cats have changed my life as much as I hope I’ve changed theirs.
I’m tired because every new month feels like starting over, wondering if we’ll make it to the end without falling further behind.
My hope is that by the start of the new year, this chapter of constantly trying to catch up will be behind us. I want to begin 2027 in a healthier financial position, with less pressure, less panic, and the ability to keep caring for the cats with the stability they deserve.
If you’ve ever donated, shared a post, adopted a cat, volunteered, or simply encouraged me over the past five years, thank you. You are the reason Casa de Patas exists today.
If you’d like to help us reach this goal before the end of the year, whether through a donation or simply by sharing this post, it would mean more than I can put into words.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in Casa de Patas and in every cat whose life has been changed because of your kindness. ❤️🐾
