Sociedad Protectora de Animales de San Miguel de Allende, A.C. Welcome / Bienvenido! A no-kill shelter, the S.P.A. houses as many as 100 cats and dogs while they are waiting to be adopted. The S.P.A.

We have an on-site clinic which offers lower cost veterinary care, vaccinations, and spay/neuter services. is the oldest no-kill shelter for cats and dogs in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. We have been providing food, shelter, and care for unwanted and abandoned animals since 1980. We house an average of 100 animals. Our goal has always been to find permanent, loving homes for our cats and dogs. See our website for photos and bios of all our cats and dogs. Alma came to the S.P.A. on February 12, 2026 when she was about 1 year old. Small/medium-sized, she is a very pretty girl, somewhat puppy-like. She is inquisitive and playful, friendly to people and other dogs. She’s a sweetheart. Rescued by the S.P.A. from Canine Control (the city’s kill shelter), Alma is safe with us as she waits for her forever home.

💚 Those eyes are looking for someone to love. Could it be you?

Jimmy is one of those kittens who has the best of both worlds. He'll happily chase toys, explore every corner of the room, and show off his playful, athletic side—but when the fun is over, all he really wants is to curl up beside you for cuddles.

This handsome tabby arrived at the S.P.A. in January 2026 at just two months old and has grown into a confident, affectionate young cat who's ready for a family of his own.

💚🐾 FOSTER NEEDED: Could you be Ollie's temporary hero? 🐾💚

Ollie is a bright, playful young cat with a big personality and an even bigger love for people. She thrives on human connection and loves to follow you around, keep you company, and be part of your day.

Shelter life can be stressful for Ollie, as she would much prefer to be the only pet in a home where she can enjoy all the attention she loves. When especially excited, she may give playful nips, so she needs someone experienced and understanding who can read her signals and guide her gently.

A foster home could make all the difference while Ollie waits for her forever family.

Annie came to the S.P.A. on January 8, 2026 when she was about 2 years old. She arrived with her best friend (maybe sister) Hallie. Small/medium-sized, she is a lovely, docile, gentle dog. She’s affectionate and friendly to people and other dogs. She is a really sweet little girl!

🐾 Looking for a cat who will make you laugh, keep you company, and still curl up beside you when playtime is over? Flora may be your girl. 💚

Flora is confident, curious, playful, and wonderfully affectionate—the kind of young cat who brings fun into a home but also loves settling in for cuddles.

She arrived at the S.P.A. in December 2025 at just 10 weeks old and has grown into a happy, well-adjusted young cat who is ready for a home of her own.

Flora really is the best of both worlds: playful when you want to have fun and cuddly when you want some company. 💕🐾

Bonnie came to the S.P.A. on March 3, 2025 when she was about 7 years old. Small/medium-sized, she is a lovely dog, so sweet and tender, yet a little insecure about meeting someone new. She wags her tail and tentatively moves forward to be petted. She likes attention and loves cats! When we go for a walk, we stop by the cattery for her to see her feline friends. Some of the cats are not that thrilled, but others are interested in saying hello to her. She was a homeless stray in need of help and we’re happy we could be the ones to help her.
