This is what it’s all about. Tiana, aka T**i, found her forever home in Canada! She left Baja today and arrived in Canada into the loving arms if her new family!

Sunday Feel Good Read.
The final chapter, Honey's Story

For the first time in years…
Honey walked out of the rescue.

Not for another training session.
Not for another little victory.

She went home. 🏡💛

The dog who was once considered too fearful to ever be adopted...
The dog who couldn't wear a leash...
The dog who spent years surviving completely alone...

Now runs on the beach.
Sleeps safely inside.
Greets her family with endless kisses.
Has fallen in love with her rescue dog brother.
And has discovered something she never knew she was allowed to have:

Joy.

But Honey didn't change overnight.

She changed because healing takes time.

More time than anyone could predict.
More patience than anyone could measure.
One tiny brave step after another...
Honey discovered that the world wasn't quite as frightening as she once believed.

She simply needed gentle souls willing to move at her pace instead of asking her to move at ours.

Today, Honey is thriving.

She reminds us that healing doesn't always look dramatic. Sometimes it happens one quiet moment at a time... one gentle touch... one brave step... one walk... until one day you realize the frightened dog who hid from the world has become a happy dog who can't wait to greet it.

Honey's journey also reminds us why rescue matters.

Some dogs arrive ready for a family.
Others need weeks.
Some need months.
And a few need years.

Every dog deserves the chance to be seen for who they can become, not just who they are on the day they arrive.

Thank you to every volunteer who loved Honey exactly where she was while sitting quietly beside her, speaking softly, respecting her boundaries, celebrating every tiny victory, and patiently believing in who she could become.

At Cortez, she was given that time.

And thank you, sweet Honey...

For proving that even the most broken hearts can learn to trust again.

You'll never be alone again.

Meet Lizzi – Young, Sweet, and Ready for Her Home

Lizzi is naturally sweet and enjoys all the affection she can get. At 1.5 years old and 46lbs Lizzi is the perfect size. She’s still gaining confidence in new situations, but every day she becomes more relaxed and more trusting. With kind handling and a steady routine, her personality continues to open up, and you can see the loving companion she’s going to be.

She does best with patient people who understand that that change is sometimes hard. Once she feels safe, Lizzi is a loyal presence who truly enjoys being close to her people.

What Lizzi Needs:
A calm, stable home
Gentle guidance and routine
A family willing to let her build confidence at her own pace

Lizzi is ready now — she just needs someone willing to give her the chance she’s been waiting for.

People often wonder what "Outreach" stands for in our name. A few community members made us aware of this sweet girl, named Lola, who was carrying around a large tumor on her leg. Her owner could not afford surgery to remove so our Outreach portion jumped in to help out. Lola is all healed up and doing great!

Our hearts are full, but our rescue is getting hot! We are looking for a very special, loving foster home in the Los Barriles area in to give two beautiful, resilient girls a cool and comfortable break from the summer heat.

Could you open your home and heart from July 17, 2026 – August 10, 2026?
Meet the sisters who will steal your heart:

Tutu (White Pup): Tutu is completely blind, but she doesn’t let that slow her down for a second! She is a total love bug who navigates her world beautifully. She thrives both indoors and out, and her absolute favorite summer activity is taking a daily dip in the swimming pool!

Tiana (Tan Pup): Tiana is minimally sight-challenged, but she has a massive spirit. She is incredibly playful, friendly, and her favorite place in the world is snuggled up right next to her human. She is the perfect indoor/outdoor companion.

We desperately want to get these sweet baby girls out of the intense summer sun at the rescue and into a refreshing, loving home environment.
