🚨FLIGHT ANGELS NEEDED FROM PUERTO VALLARTA! ✈️🐾

So many of our dogs are waiting to leave the shelter and finally get HOME. 🏡❤️ And right now, we’re feeling a little desperate.
We’ve hit a summer roadblock. 🚧 Alaska Airlines normally allows our crated dogs to travel, but they’ve placed a summer heat embargo from August 1–October 31, even though their baggage holds are climate controlled.

But we have another option! 🙌

✈️ Puerto Vallarta → San Diego via TIJ/CBX
🐶 Crated dogs can travel on Viva or Volaris
👤 1 dog per person
🏡 Our adopters are willing to travel to San Diego to pick them up! You must be using CBX to come out on US side

He’s small enough to fly in cabin and can travel on Alaska (preferred) or Delta.

NUTELLA 🤎

Another lost soul found roaming the streets, desperately in need of help.
On July 29, we welcomed Nutella into our care after a woman rescued her from the streets of San Vicente and reached out to us for help.❤️‍🩹She is estimated to be around 2 years old. She’s very anemic with very low platelets.

We initially suspected TVT, but further examination showed that she doesn’t actually have a tumor. Instead, the area appears as though something is coming from the inside out and eating away at her skin. It’s possibly some form of carcinoma.
A cytology was performed this past week, and we are waiting on those results. We need an accurate diagnosis so we can determine the right treatment for her.

Until then, Nutella must remain kenneled separately for everyone’s safety. She really doesn’t like being alone. She’s incredibly sweet, loves people, and craves attention. Every time someone visits and leaves, she cries because she wants to come out. 💔😭

For now, she’s safe with us, getting rest, nutrition, medications, and lots of love while we wait for answers.
We’ll update you as soon as we have a diagnosis and treatment plan. Please keep this sweet girl in your thoughts. 🤎

July Recap ☀️🐾

We blinked, and the month was over! There has been no slowing down over the summer. While the low season means no fundraisers and events, it also means fewer volunteers, keeping our team busier than ever😥

Despite the challenges, 7 lucky dogs found their forever homes in July. We’re so grateful to everyone who chose adoption and gave these deserving dogs a second chance at the lives they deserve.
Congratulations and good luck to our lucky seven: Eddie, Skinny, Fonzie, Mimi, Kuma, Lázaro, and Maruchan! 🐾🏡🍀

July was also a very busy month for new arrivals. Thirteen dogs came into our care, proving once again that the need for rescue never slows down. At the end of July, we had 121 dogs in our care, all relying on us for safety, medical care, and a chance at a better future🫶🏽 At the time of this post, we have 127 dogs in care.

Join us in welcoming Lolo to the ADNL family! 🦷

Lolo is another lucky dog rescued by the Nayarit Green Patrol (Patrulla Verde)🍀He was originally rescued at the end of May and spent some time recovering with their veterinarian before being transferred into our care on July 22.❤️‍🩹

It’s believed that Lolo was hit by a car before he was rescued. He has reduced muscle mass in his left hip and initially favored his back left leg. Thankfully, with each passing day he’s putting more weight on it and is now almost fully healed.
Estimated to be around 6 years old and weighing just 6.7 kg (14.7 lbs), Lolo is considered a special needs dog due to his vision impairment. Thankfully, he isn’t completely blind—he can still see shadows—and he adapted to shelter life almost immediately. He is not currently using any drops or medications for his eyes.
Every now and then he’ll misjudge a step or accidentally bump into another dog, but otherwise he gets along wonderfully with everyone. If he joins a home with another dog, it simply needs to be one that’s patient with the occasional accidental invasion of personal space.

With the sweetest personality and the cutest little underbite, Lolo has completely stolen our hearts.
He’s now ready to find his forever family, and we’d love to see this deserving boy in a loving home sooner rather than later. It should also be noted, he loves wagon rides!

Bimba 🩷 & Bimbo 🩵

Two more dogs joined the ADNL family on July 19.
These sweet pups were spotted in San Vicente by one of our staff members. He quickly realized they had an owner, unfortunately, they weren’t being properly cared for. When asked, the owner agreed to surrender them to us. Actually, asking if we would take them.
Despite their loyalty to the only home they’d ever known, Bimba and Bimbo spent their lives outside 24/7, exposed to the sun and rain with little care or supervision. Thankfully, those days are behind them, and they’re now safe with us.

At first, we didn’t plan to adopt them out together. But after spending time in our care, it became obvious that these two share an incredibly strong bond. We believe they are mother and son, and we can’t imagine separating them.
🩷 Bimba is the mom. She’s a small tan-and-black terrier mix, estimated to be about 4 years old.
🩵 Bimbo is her son. He’s slightly bigger than her, a white poodle, approximately 1.5 years old, but still small.
They’re both incredibly friendly with people, love other dogs, and we know they’ll make wonderful companions. They would thrive in just about any home as long as they’re together.

Although they are small dogs, both under 20 lbs, neither is small enough to travel in the cabin, which means they currently can’t fly to the U.S. or Canada (except to the San Diego border for pick up). We’re finishing their vet care now so they’ll be ready for adoption well before the summer airline heat embargoes are lifted.
No matter where they’re adopted, they must stay together! They’re available as a bonded pair only!

July 20, we welcomed Lili into our care 🪷

We were contacted by a man in San Vicente who found Lili suffering with a large tumor in her mouth. He brought her to our vet, where she underwent an examination and a biopsy.
Unfortunately, biopsy results can take several weeks to come back, and we’re still waiting. Until we know exactly what type of cancer Lili has, it’s impossible to determine the best course of treatment.❤️‍🩹

While waiting on the results, our vet gave Lili one round of vincristine chemotherapy in case the tumor could be transmissible venereal tumors (TVT). With TVT, we usually begin seeing tumors shrink and start to dry up within just a few days. Sadly, it’s now been a week since her treatment, and there has been no change in the tumor appearance.

Our vet has also prepared us for a difficult possibility. Depending on the biopsy results, Lili may require not only the removal of the tumor but also most of her lower jaw (mandible). We know her prognosis may not be good, but until we have answers, we’re holding onto hope.
For now, Lili is safe, comfortable, and receiving the care she needs.🖤

As many of you know, we’re currently trying to remain closed to new rescues. The low season is always our most challenging time of year, with fewer adoptions, fewer donations and no fundraising events. But when we met Lili, we simply couldn’t say no.😢
