🐾☀️ I am soooo jealous right now…

While I’m melting in this heat, someone else has clearly figured life out.

Standing in a cool stream.
Feet in the water.
No worries.
No deadlines.

Just looking at me like:

“You know, human… you could join me instead of complaining.” 😎💦

Honestly, if anyone needs me, I’ll be looking for a puddle big enough for a dog walker.

🐶❤️🌳💦

“I don’t understand why you’re standing over there sweating.” 😂🐾💦

Living with a 16-year-old dog with Alzheimer’s is not always easy.

Some days are good. Some days are confusing.
Kiko can no longer hear me. His vision is very limited. The world he once knew so well has slowly become a place where his senses play hide-and-seek with him.
He often needs to know exactly where I am. If he can’t find me, he starts barking. Not because he’s naughty, stubborn, or demanding—but because he’s scared and confused. He needs reassurance that his person is still there.
These days, he is rarely more than a few steps away from me. He follows me from room to room, and when he can’t, I bring him with me. Sometimes it feels like having a toddler again. A very small, furry toddler with a lot of opinions.

Today is not one of his best days.

But when I look into those eyes, I don’t see an inconvenience. I see 16 years of loyalty, trust, adventures, laughter, and unconditional love.

Growing old is a privilege not every dog gets.

So on the difficult days, I remind myself that he spent his whole life being there for me. Now it’s my turn to be there for him.

And honestly?

I still love him to bits. ❤️

🐾❤️ HELP SAVANNAH & BIBI ❤️🐾

Some of you know that animal welfare is very close to my heart. Together with Elena Theodora, Katie Trotter, and Sandra Bur, I am helping to raise funds for two very special animals who urgently need veterinary care.

Savannah is a beautiful 13-year-old cat who needs an ultrasound on Monday and will most likely require surgery afterwards.

Bibi, a 10-year-old French Bulldog, is currently receiving medication while we hope to avoid surgery. In around five weeks we should know whether the treatment has worked. If not, she will need further diagnostics and potentially a major operation.

Both animals belong to a Ukrainian refugee who brought her beloved pets with her when she fled the war. Like so many of us, she considers them family and has done everything she can for them. Unfortunately, the veterinary costs are far beyond what she can manage alone.

Every euro helps. Whether it’s €2, €5, €10 or more, it all adds up and brings us closer to giving Savannah and Bibi the care they desperately need.

If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this post. Sometimes the right share reaches the right person at the right time.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated and shared. Your kindness means more than you know. ❤️

🐱 Savannah & 🐶 Bibi thank you from the bottom of their furry little hearts.

I went for my walk this morning.
I ate my breakfast.
I supervised the household.

Now please respect my busy Saturday schedule: cuddles with Mum, a warm blanket, and absolutely no unnecessary interruptions. ❤️🐾

Love,
Kiko (16 years young

“Evening. Is this seat taken?”

leans casually on the bar

“I’ll have a bowl of horse meat, a handful of treats, and whatever the gentleman at the end of the bar is having.”

“And make it quick, please.”

“A dog can only wait so long.”

💖 Angel – My Little Princess 💖

Just over two years ago, Angel came into my life.

She came from Romania, where we work closely with a wonderful veterinarian. Angel was already paralysed when I adopted her. Later, we also discovered that she suffers from IBD.

People often ask me what it is like to live with a disabled dog.

The honest answer is that I didn’t really know what to expect in the beginning. Not because I was worried, but simply because it was all new to me.

As it turns out, Angel and I have something in common: we just get on with it.

Life with her has been so much easier than I ever imagined.

Angel is an absolute little princess. She wakes up happy, enjoys every day, and never seems to spend a second feeling sorry for herself. As far as she is concerned, life is wonderful.

She wears nappies, which I change several times a day, and each change comes with a little wash and freshen-up. She accepts it all with remarkable patience and dignity.

I have bought wheelchairs for her, and she can use them very well. But because we spend so much time in the forest, I worry about her getting caught on roots or branches. If a wheelchair tips over, she cannot get back up on her own. So instead, Angel joins us on our adventures in her pram.

Three times a day we head into the forest. She rides along like royalty, watching the world go by. And when we stop, she gets out to sniff, explore, and do a little digging. She loves being part of everything.

Once a month, Angel also has a very important appointment. We visit Hundefysio in Wasserbillig, where she receives massages, laser therapy, and acupuncture to help keep her comfortable and mobile.

And she absolutely loves it.

Jenny, who looks after her there, is one of Angel’s favourite people. In fact, as soon as we pull up outside the building, Angel starts squeaking with excitement because she knows exactly where she is. There is no hesitation, no fear—just pure happiness at seeing someone she adores.

If Angel could talk, I’m quite sure she would be saying:

“Hurry up, Mum, Jenny’s waiting!”

One thing that has always touched me is how the other dogs treat her. They seem to understand that she is a little different. They are gentle with her, patient with her, and often surprisingly protective of her.

Having Angel in my life has shown me that a disability does not define a dog. What defines a dog is their spirit, their personality, and their ability to enjoy life despite the challenges they face.

I feel incredibly fortunate that she found her way to me. She has brought so much happiness, laughter, and perspective into my life.

So if you are ever considering adopting a disabled dog, my advice is simple:

Don’t be afraid to open your heart.

You might discover, just as I did, that what seems like a challenge is simply another way of sharing life with an extraordinary little dog.
