As well as the beautiful collars arriving (see previous post) I also received a wibbly wobbly video of our wibbly wobbly Little Ratty from Ramesh today.

Ramesh kindly went to check on him today as I had contact from Rattys' carer to say he had left him at the hotel grounds as he wasn't working there anymore.. the hotel has been closed for low season for some time.. so crikey.. who is looking out for him?!

Today started with a 5.30am (UK time) call from a worried Ramesh (in Sri Lanka) who couldn't find him in the deserted grounds.. followed by a stream of happy videos as Ratty eventually appeared.

Phew.

He is a little less chub and a little more lean than usual but still his happy self.

Ramesh discovered a lovely family living close to the hotel who have been feeding Ratty daily but they are struggling to maintain this due to financial restraints.

Once a Dziko dog ALWAYS a Dziko dog.. the legendary Ratty needs a little bit of our support again.

Rosie is swiftly organising a sack of food, some snacks, a snazzy collar, some routine wormer and skin treatment for our little guy.. and to help the amazing local family to continue caring for him.
. hoping he will roam a little and venture to this lovely family to secure his future.. come on little guy.. get your bags packed!
Laugh aside.. he is safe, healthy and doing well. ❤️

I am looking for someone to run a little Dziko stall. Everything you need will come in a box all ready to present on a table to sell! All money donated to the street dogs in Sri Lanka.

I had a really fun day doing this (with lots of shopping opportunities and dogs to meet!), however I am away again this year.

£100 in the bank for some more books! 🎉🥰
I've been looking after Sky and Tina this week and my lovely friend Maria has popped some money in my bank to say thank you. 🙏
I'm going to use this money to print some more books to give to the children in Sri Lanka to help teach them more about caring for the dogs that live around them.
They are worth every penny to see the smiles 😊 we get back in return 📖🐶

I have more news to share!
Mission Maldives yesterday and an update on Crisp today!

Remember the two tiny puppies named Choco and Crisp we found at Grandma Chalat's home back in March?

Choco has gone to live with a family member to help reduce the numbers in this little pack and Crisp has continued to sprout (..a lot!!) .. and is doing just fine!

Here he is looking super healthy! ❤️

EXCITING NEWS **

Mission Maldives! 🐱🐱🐱

I have been asked to accompany a small team to run a Cat Sterilisation Programme in the Maldives in January 2027.

Yes I'm most probably going to get scratched a lot.. and yes I'm sh****ng myself as I suffer with really bad sea sickness 🤮🤢🚣

We are planning to visit a small island to sterilise, vaccinate and treat 100 cats all in need of some Veterinary care and we need to raise funds to ensure this can happen.

Literally everything we need has to be transported to the island from Sri Lanka.

The Dziko dog blog will be turning a little Meooww for a while and then I will be heading on to Sri Lanka to volunteer with the street dogs again.

The Sri Lankan government could do a LOT more to support the street dogs...and if they can be made more aware that tourism is affected by the health and welfare of some of the street dogs in Sri Lanka they would be much more likely to do more!

I shared my book with another charity in Sri Lanka and they are definitely spreading the love! 🩷
I love it when charities work together with the dogs best interests at heart.
You would think it would naturally happen but I'm sad to say it doesn't always work that way in real life.

Meet DEVON.

She is a street dog who we suspect is deaf.
I stopped back in April and gave her some food and medication for her skin.
Jenny repeated her skin medication in May and then took this photo of her several days ago!

Look at the transformation of her skin and coat!
