Remember Me Thursday is an international awareness campaign created by the Helen Woodward Animal Center. It's marked every year on the fourth Thursday of September. Its purpose is simple: to remind the world that shelter pets are still waiting for homes.

Every year, thousands of dogs and cats in Sri Lanka also end up in shelters or living on the streets. Many are abandoned by families who couldn't care for them long-term. Choosing to adopt instead of buying isn't just a kind choice. It directly reduces shelter overpopulation and gives an animal a real second chance.

👑 Shelter pets are often already house-trained or past the most demanding puppy or kitten stage.
👑 Local rescue organizations frequently vaccinate and sterilize animals before rehoming them.
👑 A mixed-breed pet can be just as loving and loyal as any pedigree breed.

Not being able to hear doesn't stop a dog or cat from living a full and joyful life. Many deaf pets grow up just as playful and loving as any other pet. They simply experience the world a little differently.

Some pets are born deaf. Others lose their hearing later due to age, illness, or breed-related factors. With a few adjustments deaf pets can be trained and cared for just as well as any hearing pet.
