Cats are obligate carnivores, but feeding only plain meat is not enough for healthy bones. Muscle meat alone is low in calcium and has the wrong calcium-to-phosphorus balance. Over time, this can weaken bones and lead to pain, fractures, poor growth, and difficulty walking — especially in kittens.
A balanced diet should include the right nutrients such as calcium, vitamin D, and minerals to support strong bones and healthy movement. Whether feeding commercial food or raw diets, balance matters.
X-ray shows severe calcium deficiency caused by an unbalanced all-meat diet. The bones have become thin, weak and poorly mineralised because the body started pulling calcium from the skeleton just to survive.
Meat alone is NOT a complete diet. Cats need balanced nutrition with the right calcium-to-phosphorus ratio to build strong bones.
