Yesterday I had some surgery as I’ve had a big lump for a while that we’ve been monitoring and whilst they ran some tests that seems to suggest it’s nothing serious, humans wanted to be 100% sure. Just before surgery we found one more small one so we got that removed too.

I’ve also been doing some accidents in the house which isn’t normal so we did an ultrasound which found some mass in my abdomen which we’ve had sent away for testing too.

Before the surgery we did an echo on my heart and the vet said my heart is very very strong and healthy and she was shocked I was 11 years old as I am like a puppy.

While I was under anaesthetic we got my teeth cleaned also. I stayed overnight at the vet and was next to another Westie! They said I was a very good boy, ate all my food, had no reactions and had no lethargy.

I’m now back home resting and recuperating and will have the results in about 1 week. We hope that it’s nothing serious and will be back to my usual self soon ❤️

Humans are finally home after their month long trip to Europe. We forgot to take a video as we were all too excited so here’s a throwback to last time when they were away for just a few days. Can you imagine how excited I was after a whole month?! ❤️

As you know, they usually take me with them on their long trips, but they covered 7 countries including the UK which made it logistically a nightmare with me. To be honest, I was a lot happier staying and playing with my buddies in Thailand than being carted around by train, plane and ferry for just a few nights in each place.

I am very happy they are home now and I’m back to playing in my own big garden getting pampered and spoilt, although the humans say I have to go on a diet as I definitely got holiday belly and if I want to go back to Japan I need to get svelte for the flight 😂 but we have plenty of time for that.

Now to enjoy the next few months in the Land of Smiles 🇹🇭😁

Thanks for everyone’s concern, we are all fine. We haven’t been posting on social media as humans were doing a surprise visit to the UK for grandad’s 70th birthday and we didn’t want to spoil anything 🎉🎉🎉

I am fully enjoying myself with some Westie pals at boarding and looking forward to seeing the humans again soon ❤️❤️❤️

Yesterday was the closest we’ve been to being denied boarding when travelling with Wylie. Check in was a breeze, they checked our papers, weighed him and we got our boarding passes. We had a slight hiccup in that our import permit for Thailand didn’t arrive in time, but as you can apply on arrival everything was ok, it just took a bit of explaining and we had to sign a waiver.

However, after we passed security we got stopped and told the airline wanted to measure the bag. After reading so many dog travel forums and accounts, I’d never heard of this before. Yet every time we leave Japan we get our bag measured. Even though we’ve taken 4 flights with this airline in the same bag, showed photos and videos of it fitting under the seat, they weren’t happy as it was larger than the allowed measurements (86cm combined 😳) they measured the bag at least 20 times (not sure what they were expecting to happen 😂) we then took out the plastic poles that keep the bag rigid and showed it easily squashed down further.

After multiple calls back and forth we were told if we taped the bag down at the gate then we’d be allowed to continue. Of course we agreed and off to the gate we went. Thankfully they didn’t make us do this, even though it was the same lady at the gate and we boarded first to prove the bag fit well under the seat.

Which is ironic as this airline has one of the most roomy spaces for dogs! I fit well under the seat and another ironic moment is that this was probably the most relaxed I’ve ever been on a flight. I slept the entire way on both legs and didn’t hear a peep from me.

Things like this really make dog travel more stressful than it should be. Yes airlines allow us to travel which is great, but the restrictions are so strict, sometimes I wonder why they allow at all.

It really makes us think about what we do going forward as every time we fly it’s a huge gamble and adds so much stress.
