🖼️ One of the most incredible racing photos ever taken?
This moment from Laytown Races in 2014 shows a horse (Arbitrageur) launching into the air just as jockey Johnny King tries to mount. The groom, Aidan Wall, can be seen dodging the airborne hind legs like something out of an action film.
Captured perfectly by Healy Racing, the sheer height, timing and tension in this shot are unreal. Even more amazing—no one was hurt.
Apparently, Arbitrageur had form for this. It was the third time he'd unseated his rider before the race had even begun. On his previous start at The Curragh, he pulled off a similar move, flinging jockey John Egan just leaving the parade ring.
