Meet Geetha, our Himalayan Black Bear at Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam! Have you ever wondered why Himalayan Black Bears sometimes sit upright like this? This posture is a natural part of their behaviour. Bears may sit upright to rest comfortably, observe their surroundings, investigate smells and sounds, or simply change their body position. Their strong hindquarters and flexible hips allow them to maintain this upright sitting posture with ease. It may look surprisingly similar to a yoga posture, but for Geetha, it is simply natural bear behaviour!

Her calm, grounded posture may remind us of Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle Pose), making this a beautiful moment where wildlife meets yoga. Geetha reminds us that nature has its own lessons in balance, stillness and strength.
