Training the client to handle their dog is the primary goal, especially if the dog is aggressive.
➡️Often times, a an aggressive dog charges on other people if the dog is in control of the situation.
➡️ The parent may try to stop, shout at the dog to curb the aggression but the bullet has already been fired now.
➡️ Making sure that the dog knows that the owner is in control will ensure that the attack doesn't happen at all.
So, following is the path we endure to train aggression cases:
1. Find the cause. Be it trauma, a rescue case, improper handling, genetic aggression or too much pampering. Finding the cause becomes crucial.
2. Training the dog temperamentally( different from command training). If the dog is under-confident, increase confidence, if it's trauma, help him overcome it, etc.
3. Training the client so that the client can read the dog and gauge and avoid an attack before it happens. Because frequently preventing attacks from occuring will result in a dog who can handle multiple different scenarios calmly.
4. Prepare the client for the worst case scenario. By chance if the dog charges on other people, how to tackle the situation and handle the dog. This involves teaching the client to read their dog, understanding signs when the dog feels insecure and control the dog while he tries to charge.
Thus, the dog calms down drastically with the client and can handle multiple different environmental stimuli.
