When Good Samaritans found a young dog lying motionless on the side of a Florida road, they contacted rescuers from Everglades Angels Dog Rescue, knowing she had been through something terrible.

The two-year-old Mountain Cur had been struck by a vehicle and left behind with devastating injuries.

She was unable to move and in severe pain — and rescuers immediately noticed she was pregnant. They rushed her to emergency veterinary care, where doctors fought to save her and her unborn puppies.

Rescuers named her Hope.

During surgery, veterinarians discovered hemorrhaging in her kidney and uterus, along with a dislocated hip and extensive bruising. Tragically, despite every effort, none of her nine puppies survived. Doctors later said Hope herself likely would not have survived much longer.

But even after everything she endured, rescuers say Hope has remained incredibly gentle and trusting. She still leans into people for comfort, looking at them with soft eyes despite the pain she’s carrying.

Her hip has since been put back into place, and now she begins the long process of recovering… and healing.

They named her Hope for a reason.

Because after losing so much, she’s still fighting for the chance at a different life — one filled not with suffering and abandonment, but safety, healing, and love.
