That puppy who follows you everywhere?
"He just wants to be close to me." ❤️
And yes, it's adorable.
But puppies also learn from everything we allow them to practise.
Today it's:
🐶 Following you into the kitchen
🐶 Sleeping at your feet while you cook
🐶 Sniffing around the counter
As they grow, that same habit can turn into:
❌ Jumping on the counter
❌ Stealing food
❌ Getting into the dustbin
❌ Guarding access to the kitchen
❌ Becoming difficult to manage around food
That's why I like teaching boundaries before there's a problem.
Ponzu is only 5 months old.
He followed his human towards the kitchen, but stopped at the boundary and sat outside.
No drama.
No shouting.
No constant pulling him away.
He simply learns:
"My human can go in there. I don't have to follow."
Good behaviour is much easier to build when the dog is still learning what the rules of the house are.
Don't wait for the puppy to become a problem before teaching the boundary.
Got a puppy? Start building household boundaries before unwanted habits become difficult to change.
