The Campus Bird Count '2026' event was successfully organized on 13th Feb 2026 with active participation from PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya students at Gibbonsland and Mpen, engaging 31 students who explored the fascinating world of birds. A total of 40 bird species were observed and documented.

A call for protection and conservation of Wild animals, Shri-Latkam Matcha of New Khimyong village under Namphai-I circle has reared and brought up an orphaned Assamese Macaque (Macaca assamensis) and had handed over the rescued primate to the Zoo authorities for its upkeep on 30/08/2025. It is very heartening to see that our denizens are very proactive in protection of this lovely creatures. Indeed, his action will have a far reaching to our society and will inspire others for the same empathy towards wild animals.

ZPM Shri Asamto Tikhak has felicitated zoo staff members Shri Akanto Hajong, Shri Dil Bahadur Thapa, and Shri Prahalad Kalita for their outstanding service in rescuing, releasing, and rehabilitating wild animals on Global Tiger Day. Their relentless efforts and commitment have led to the successful release of a Barn Owl, Hog Deer, and Snakes, and it is hoped that they will continue to deliver exceptional results in the future.
