WORLD EGG DAY CELEBRATION AT CHANDIGARH
Central Poultry Development Organisation (NR), Chandigarh, Govt. of India in collaboration with Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Punjab, Haryana & U.T., Chandigarh celebrated World egg day 2019 at Chandigarh involving the major stakeholders like National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC), All India Poultry Breeders Association and NGO-Organic Sharing etc. This year (2019) it was on Friday, 11th October, 2019. World Egg Day is a unique opportunity to help raise awareness of the benefits of eggs to being not only nutritious and delicious, but as nature’s vitamin pill having the power to feed a hungry world. All around the world, festivals, charitable events and city celebrations take place to recognize this small but mighty food source. This is the eight consecutive years that the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India is facilitating celebration of the “World Egg Day” in the country. Last year the event was held at Delhi with great fervor.
The ‘World Egg Day 2019’ programme was being organized at National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTER), Sector 26, Chandigarh. This function was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Honourable Minister of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development, Govt. of Punjab along with Dr O.P. Chaudhary, Joint Secretary (NLM), Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Govt. of India who also presided over the function as chairperson. Shri Raj Kamal Chaudhary IAS, Secretary, Deptt. of A.H., Fisheries & Dairy Development Govt. of Punjab , Dr. Sunil Kumar Gulati IAS, Additional Chief Secretary , Deptt. of AH&D, Govt. of Haryana and Shri Tejdeep Saini PCS, Director, Deptt. Animal Husbandry &Fisheries, U.T., Chandigarh graced the occasion as Guests of Honour. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Director, Animal Husbandry, Punjab. The eminent poultry entrepreneurs & stake holders in Punjab & Haryana were felicitated during this occasion.An interaction between Stake holders, scientists and Government officials shall also be organized in this event. In the last, vote of thanks for the inaugural function was given by Dr. Kamna Barkataki, Director, CPDO(NR), Chandigarh.
The event was followed by technical session which was chaired by Chairperson Dr. Sujit K. Dutta, Deputy Commissioner (NLM), Deptt. Of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Govt. of India.
The address by eminent keynote speakers from various colleges and institutes was a remarkable session which also included open panel discussion with the poultry farmers and enterprenuers.
To encourage the students to consume the eggs daily as it is cheapest source of high quality protein, 500 students of Government model Senior Secondary school, sector 28, Chandigarh were invited along with their teachers. Caps with symbol of eggs & T-shirts were also being distributed in this event during morning session. A road show /Rally on theme “creating awareness on importance of eggs in human nutrition & health among general public” was also being organised in this event.
A press conference was being organized at the Press Club Chandigarh a day before the event to create awareness about the nutritive value of egg in human diet among the public which was covered by various popular news agencies such Dainik Bhaskar, News 18, Dainik Jagran etc.
In this function egg-recipe booklets and boiled eggs were being served for the participants. The egg recipes include indigenous and exotic preparations like egg biryani, egg roll, egg curry, egg noodles, egg frittata, sweet and sour eggs, egg club sandwiches etc. which elicited a lot of interest. Around 10,000 boiled eggs were distributed at the event.
On this auspicious occasion, pamphlets and leaflets were distributed at all the celebration venues as well as banners and hoardings were installed in different prime locations of city of Chandigarh for public awareness.
By facilitating celebrations of World Egg Day, it was intended by Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Govt. of India to create awareness of the nutritive value of eggs thereby benefiting both the consumers and poultry industry.....keep smiling
