Aviculture is our DHARMA, our Religion,
Birds are our BHAGWAN, our God,
Sunshine BirdWorld is our MANDIR, our Temple.
Our Dharma was violated,
Our Bhagwan was dishonoured,
Our Mandir was desecrated.
The sanctity of our temple was profaned……
A BLACK DAY IN THE HISTORY OF SUNSHINE BIRDWORLD …
SUNSHINE BIRDWORLD VIOLATED !
ADFO ASHIS MONDAL HAS ZERO REGARDS FOR LAW !
BIRDS SEIZED & TAKEN AWAY FROM THE PREMISES …
BIRDS RETURNED AFTER 22 MINUTES !
3 exotic species (6 numbers) of endangered CITES I birds were seized from Sunshine BirdWorld Avian Breeding and Research Centre on 22nd December, 2025, by a contingent of more than 45 “officials” led by ADFO Shri Ashis Mondal, who raided our premises.
When we tried to put forward the illegality of such seizure by producing all due legal and procedural papers and quoting the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972 as amended in 2022 and the Living Animal Species (Reporting and Registration) Rules 2024, Shri Ashis Mondal, ADFO, showed utter disregard for the law and the said Act and Rules and said that “I don’t need to see or follow anything except what I have come here for”…… This conduct caused intense physiological and psychological trauma to the birds which were in breeding mode. The team harassed all of us including our staff, exhibiting extreme high handed behaviour and taking us through an unimaginable ordeal. This also violated the sanctity and constituted a material breach of the stringent bio-security protocols strictly maintained at Sunshine BirdWorld. Birds that had been duly quarantined upon arrival and established within our facility for several years were forcibly and inhumanly tortured and removed from their habitat. This unauthorised displacement exposed the birds to external environmental stressors during inclement December conditions and introduced uncontrolled contact with external biological agents, violating years of isolated health management. However, the birds were transported back to our facility after 22 minutes, from a distance of 1.3 km from our farm, due to “orders from the superiors” of Shri Ashis Mondal. But by then the damage was done.
Our faith on the system shaken forever, today, we sit with our distressed animals trying to nurse them back to health. It was distressing to know that operations of an avicultural farm, even if it is of impeccable standard, will not always be valued (thanks to officers like Shri Ashis Mondal), it was heartbreaking to listen to the birds screaming for help as they were being caught ruthlessly.
When they came back they apologised profusely for what had been done.
But “sorry” cannot undo the wrong that you have done to more than twenty five years of tireless and selfless commitment, diligent hard work and a legacy being followed over generations.
