Pashupati Animal Welfare Society - PAWS

Pashupati Animal Welfare Society - PAWS This is an NGO for Animal Welfare that is registered under W. B. Societies Registration Act 1961 to aid ailing street animals. Reg # S/2L/59418, 3 Aug 2016.

At Pashupati Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), we believe in the power of community. What began as a small WhatsApp group of animal lovers in July 2015, quickly grew into a professionally-managed NGO, thanks to the dedication and passion of our diverse members - from military and police officers, to researchers and engineers, and even college students. Named after Lord Shiva, the protector of all ani

mals, our mission is to pool funds from our members and the public to provide the best possible care for animals in need. In August 2016, we became a shelter ourselves due to the overwhelming number of cases we were seeing. Today, PAWS runs a successful ambulance service, with a vehicle donated by Mrs. Maneka Gandhi and designed by our team. We pride ourselves on being the first choice for animal lovers in Kolkata, known for our reliable and effective treatment. At PAWS, we understand that serving animals is not just about saving them, it's about saving humanity. Join us in our mission to make the world a better place for all creatures."

We established Pashupati Animal Welfare Society ( PAWS ) with all our heart, out of an unwavering love for animals. That is why we always keep our shelter clean. Just as clean as we keep our house clean. The criterion for the cleanliness of the shelter is that I can sit on the floor of the shelter and eat food. We keep the shelter clean not because of the fear of any government inspection, but because of our love for animals. There are good facilities for dogs and cats with 24-hour lights and fans.

Hello friends, we all know that serving society and animals is a noble work, but even while doing this noble work, sometimes we have to feel small in front of people. We have to be humiliated for no reason. To keep Pashupati Animal Welfare Society running, we need donations every day. An NGO cannot function without donations. We ask for donations from people who send us stray dogs for treatment according to their ability. But most people have the idea that NGOs mean free services. I don't have to pay anything. But the real process is completely different. With the help of one group of healthy and capable people, another group of sick and incapable people and animals are served. It is acceptable that some people are unable to donate, but if all people hesitate to donate or do not donate, then how can a voluntary organization continue to function and provide the ultimate service? Because voluntary organizations are 100% dependent on donations, you need to understand this. This is our humble request to you all to sincerely try to understand this issue. 🙏

Its Alarming !! We have noticed that there are many people who love stray dogs very much, feed them and care for them. But when the dogs get sick or have an accident, those people want to avoid responsibility for the dogs as soon as possible. Similarly, many people have come to our NGO and given sick dogs for treatment but have not come to take them back. When we call to send them back, they do not answer the phone. It has happened several times that at night, with a cloth tied over his face to hide his identity, has tied a sick dog to the closed main gate of the Pashupati Animal Welfare Society - PAWS shelter and has not come to take the dog back. Today we are showing one such dog in the video. After recovering the dog, we have kept the dog in our shelter because we do not know the exact address to send it back. Many such dogs have remained in our shelter.

PAWS is asking all those people what kind of animal lovers are you? What kind of animal love do you have? Are you opportunistic animal lovers? When your parents, children or relatives fall ill, do you throw them out on the street like this? When the animal that remained loyal to you when healthy, gave you unconditional love, when it falls ill, you throw it out on the street!? Stop showing off in the name of animal love.If you are unable to fulfill all your responsibilities towards your pet, then you should not keep an animal. Your unreasonable behavior sends the wrong message to society about keeping animals.

Don't Mind.. be Kind 🙏

I loved dogs, I had some friends who also loved dogs, we had a WhatsApp group. We used to talk about dog care there. That's how one day we thought of starting an NGO. Pashupati Animal Welfare Society started in 2016 with a rented house.Due to various difficulties, we had to leave that rented house one day. My lawyer husband and some of his clients jointly acquired a piece of land. On that land, a small house was started as the permanent shelter of Pashupati Animal Welfare Society. Now, with the blessings of God, that shelter has grown a lot and we can now keep 150 dogs and cats in that shelter.
