🌿 Fish That Enjoy Driftwood

Driftwood creates natural shelter, grazing surfaces, and shaded areas that help many freshwater fish feel secure. 🐟 Plecos, Kuhli Loaches, Bettas, Corydoras, and Apistogramma especially benefit from driftwood. It encourages natural behavior and supports biofilm growth. Always use aquarium-safe, properly soaked driftwood before adding it to your tank.

Its body is almost invisible, but its true identity stayed hidden for decades.
Kryptopterus means “hidden fin,” referring to the tiny, barely visible dorsal fin not illness or damage. For years, the aquarium trade sold this fish as Kryptopterus bicirrhis, although the familiar transparent species was formally described as Kryptopterus vitreolus in 2013.
Most specimens in the trade are still collected from restricted river systems in southern and southeastern Thailand. Captive breeding has been achieved, but large scale commercial production remains limited. IUCN currently lists the species as Least Concern, despite its relatively narrow natural distribution and continued dependence on wild collection.
