Seven dogs reportedly traveled about 17 kilometers (11 miles) together after escaping and finding their way back home — with a corgi leading the group.
The dogs, all from the same village in Changchun, China, drew widespread attention after video showed them moving in formation along a highway. The footage, recorded on March 16, quickly went viral.
In the video, a corgi appears to guide the group, often glancing back as if checking on the others. At the center is an injured German shepherd, limping as it walks, while the other dogs — including Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and a Pekingese — stay close around it in what looked like a protective formation. Even when people tried to intervene, the dogs continued moving together as a pack.
Over the course of two days, they reportedly covered around 17 kilometers. By March 19, all seven had returned to their owners. One owner described the reunion with relief, saying they were incredibly fortunate the dogs made it back safely. While authorities confirmed the footage was authentic, officials said the dogs had wandered off rather than been stolen.
The story has since resonated widely, with many people seeing it as a powerful example of loyalty, instinct, and the bond animals can share in times of danger.
